Weekly Friday Finds | 09-20-2024|
Welcome to the Friday Finds for 09-20-2024.
This week’s post is a little briefer than usual. The other night, my kitty ran off during the lunar eclipse. She did a couple of squirrely flips & twists, then shot off into the corn field. I’ve spent every free minute searching for her since. I’ve always been a dog person, even though I couldn’t have them in the house due to allergies. We’ve had barn cats ever since we moved to the farm. But, last fall, someone “gifted us” a couple of stray house cats. I’ve become terribly attached in just a year.
But good news—she came back this morning! So now I can type without running to the door every five minutes to look for her. She seems no worse for her excursion, but I hope she doesn’t make a habit of this! It was a long 2 and a half days of worry for me!
So, here’s what I have for you this week. Hopefully, next week is calmer!
Peace,
Gina

A Fun Guest Post from Amy Craig, Author of The Starlight Motel
Quirky, fun characters highlight The Starlight Motel. Set in the Palm Springs area, the Starlight Motel is reminiscent of the single-story motels that populated the region in the past. It’s an entertaining read with a bit of spice.

Book Review: Silver Bells: A Christmas Horror Story by Sandy Lender
Lender blends holiday cheer with horror elements. It takes the traditional warmth of Christmas and transforms it into a chilling experience. The story is centered around dark secrets, eerie events, and an evil presence that disrupts the holiday spirit.
Weekly Friday Finds |09-20-2024 | Recipes
I made this from about four apples that fell from the tree during the week. It only called for two apples, but I had to cut away a lot of bruising, so that’s what I deemed was needed for the recipe. That’s why I call myself a “homestyle” cook. I rarely measure anything. Maybe after all these years, I know what constitutes a tablespoon or a cup. The exception is a brand-new recipe. I will generally measure for the first time or two that I make something.
Are you a “follow-the-recipe-to-the-letter” person or a “close-enough” cook?

Weekly Friday Finds | 09-20-2024 | Books
I just finished Death and Other Inconveniences by Lesley Crewe. It was a mixed bag for me—parts of it I loved, some of it not as much. But overall, it is a worthwhile read. I find I enjoy protagonists of a “certain age” more these days. I guess I can relate. (Review coming soon)
National bestselling author Lesley Crewe’s new novel explores widowhood, complicated family dynamics, and growing up at any age.
Well, Dick’s dead. Now what?
Margo, his widow, is trying to dodge the tsunami of paperwork coming her way. She doesn’t want to deal with the details―why do you think she was married in the first place? Dick always handled the drudgery.
