The 23rd December 2022 Friday Finds are here with a new Author of the Week, Indie Author News, and loads more.
Hello, my friends & welcome to the 23rd December 2022
As I write this, the “bomb cyclone” winter storm Elliott is beginning. We’ve done all the prep we can to be ready for it.
- Extra water jugs filled (if the power goes out, we have no water pump until we hook up a generator)
- Added Extra insulation, heating pads, and heated water/food dish to the barn cat shelter
- The generator is moved into place for when the power goes out.
- All vehicles, tractors, and extra fuel containers are full.
- Any Christmas presents that I could manage were delivered early.
- Ice melt & shovels moved into position.
- Doors locked & curtains closed to keep out as much cold air as possible.
- Every device I own (including extra charging stations) is fully charged.
- Big ole pot of chili simmering on the stove.
This is NOT our first rodeo riding out winter storms in the isolated, windswept, rural plains.
By the time you get this on Friday morning, I fully expect to be snowed in, blown in, and frozen in!
I know most of the USA is expecting some type of winter storm. How is the weather where you are? If it’s warm and sunny… send pix!!
I hope you enjoy this week’s post and be sure you leave a comment below voting for your favorite find of the week. I hope you have the happiest holiday season, no matter how you celebrate.
For me, it’s Merry Christmas. But I’m super aware that many of my readers celebrate in different ways, even if it’s just celebrating a weekend.
So I’m wishing you peace and love today and every day!
Note: I try to provide purchase links for each item mentioned here. Every purchase made through my links helps to support this blog at no additional cost to you. My pennies come from the sellers’ share.

Friday Finds | 23rd December 2022 | Books
Many bookstores have already begun to list their New Year’s sales. Here are a few I found.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amazon Book Deals!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bookshop.org Specials!
If the above link doesn’t take you to the special offers page, look for the tab at the top of their site (usually under my name). It will take you right there. What makes Bookshop.org so special is that it allows you to purchase online directly from local bookstores. That makes it a win-win in my eyes,
(p.s. – If you still need a couple of last-minute presents, their gift cards are a great deal and emailed to the recipient. I use them all the time in my raffles.)

Friday Finds | 23rd December 2022 | Recipes
If you don’t have your holiday menu set by now, I can’t help you! lol
What I can do is show you 7 Great Recipes to Transform Your Holiday Leftovers!
The link will take you to Sweatpants and Coffee’s blog.
Friday Finds | 23rd December 2022 | Creative Projects
What are your favorite creative activities when you are homebound? As long as I have books and coffee, I am set. Although…yarn is right up there, too.
I’m currently working on a sweater for one of the grandsons in black with green stripes, and the youngest has requested a new sweater in blue, green, pink, and could I please put lights on it like his teacher’s X-mas party sweater? The boy knows what he wants, that’s for sure!
When my girls lived at home, we always broke out vintage movies, hot chocolate, and jigsaw puzzles on snow days!
Friday Finds | 23rd December 2022 | The Blog Roundup
What are some of your favorite blogs to visit each week? I love surfing through an eclectic mix of blogs. It’s a rabbit hole I fall into frequently!
Tessa at Narratess is always interesting to read.
If you missed one of my reviews in the past week, here’s an easy link to find them all, or click on the image & links below. Be sure you check out the giveaways. There are some great prizes this week!
I didn’t schedule too many tour spotlights or reviews over the holiday season because I was unsure of my ability to stay ahead. But that left me openings for several personal reviews I wanted to share.
If you are so inclined, some of these could use some views & comments to make the author (and me) feel the love.
A Smile in Your Pocket by Jarrod Zayas | 4.5 Star ~ Children’s Book Review | #
Mother Knows Worst by Sofia Bella Roma | Spotlight ~ Author Bio
Chasing the Lion by A.J. Tata | Book Review | Thrilling 5-Star Military Adventure
That’s it for this week. I’m thinking of putting together a Best of 2022 Friday Finds post for next week. What do you think?
Thanks for reading this week. Peace & Love!

CONGRATS Gina! Your post is FEATURED at the Unlimited Link Party 97!
The storm sounded really bad, hope all is ok at your house. I love to crochet when my hands and wrists are cooperative. Lately I’ve been enjoying adult coloring books. Planning a giveaway for some soon! Oh, yes, jigsaw puzzles are fun too!! The book Mother Knows Worst sounds interesting Thanks so much for linking up at the Unlimited Link Party 96. Shared.
Thanks, Dee. The worst of the storm missed us. We didn’t get the heavy snow, just wild wind chills. I love your Link Parties!
We are even getting the storm here in Southern Ontario, Gina. It actually blew a section of my fence down. There were car pile ups and power outages, but I am inside, snuggled up under a quilt and reading. Have a wonderful holiday, Gina. Merry Christmas!
Although we’ve had a cooler than usual fall in SoCal, we’re expecting temps of 81* for Christmas Day! 😱😰 My family lives on the plains of South Dakota and I was born and lived my early years there so I know the conditions of which you speak! 🥶🥶🥶 Merry Christmas Gina! 🎄🎄🎄
Merry Christmas to you too, Carol! ☃️
It’s cold and will be freezing temperatures overnight here! Have a very Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, Jessica & family!
Snow, then rain, then freezing rain, then more snow: that’s the forecast up here in Montreal. But if it means we’ll have a white Christmas, I’ll take it. Thanks for the checklist of things to prepare before the inevitable power failure. Have a very merry Christmas, Gina.
Thanks for reading today, Gary. Merry Christmas to you & yours too! Stay warm & safe.
Merry Christmas Gina, and stay safe!! We’ll be in the 80s for our holidays but the nights get very cold! Nonetheless, I plan on wearing my ugly sweater.
Ahhh. 80s sounds delightful. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas, Eve!
