5 Favorite Halloween Books for Kids

Halloween is nearly upon us so I’m sharing my 5 favorite halloween books for kids. Do you need a few good book recommendations for spooky books to read with your children, grandchildren or other little ones in your life? There is something special about curling up and reading with a child. If your little one doesn’t live nearby, they will love to open a package from you with these books inside. Candy is devoured and forgotten but everytime they read your books, they will think of you with love in their heart. What could be better than that?

5 favorite halloween books for kids  Spookley the Square Pumpkin – Joe Troiano

One day in the pumpkin patch the strangest little pumpkin hatched . . . Spookley the Pumpkin was different. All the other pumpkins teased him, until Spookley proved that being different can save the day! This perennial best-selling children’s book delivers a special message of tolerance and kindness that is just right for fall . . . and any time of year!

The witch and her cat couldn’t be happier, flying through the sky on their broomstick-until the witch drops her hat, then her bow, then her wand! Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items and all they want in return is a ride on the broomstick. But is there room on the broom for so many new friends? And when disaster strikes, will they be able to save the witch from the clutches of a hungry dragon?

How many of these have you read?

5 favorite halloween books for kids  What Was I Scared Of – Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss in a glowing new format!
What were we waiting for? We’ve taken the classic Dr. Seuss short story What Was I Scared Of? (from The Sneetches and Other Stories), added glow-in-the-dark ink, and created the ultimate just-slightly-spooky read for slumber parties and perusal by flashlight! Perfect for Halloween, this splendidly silly story about a narrator terrorized by an empty pair of pants (which happens to be equally terrified of the narrator) works perfectly well the rest of the year, too, delivering a timeless message about fear and tolerance to boot. Scaredy-pants of all ages will quiver with delight!

In the dark, a funky beat. Something white with bony feet. Skeleton dancing up the street, Doing the Halloween Hustle. Skeleton is dancing his way to a Halloween party—but as he grooves across town, he keeps stumbling, tumbling, and falling apart! Can Skeleton stay in one piece long enough to make it to the party?
