My thoughts on Two Girls, Two Dogs, and a Campervan by Bea Sharif
Two Girls, Two Dogs, and a Campervan by Bea Sharif is a fun, lighthearted look at traveling, friendship, and life. Bea Sharif takes her travel adventures and injects them into a fictional story that will warm your heart.
If you are a dog lover, you must read this adventure story. Stormy stole my heart. Striker, the flying dog, has enough emotional issues to fill a book of his own.
The author can use her words to place you right in the book. You feel the exhilaration of the hikes, smell the salty ocean air, and taste the wine.
I thought the dynamic between the friends was well-written. It seems Mia often gives into the needs of J, but that is a widespread occurrence in many relationships. Hovering just under the surface are hints that each girl has some recent trauma in their life. I picked up a vibe of recovery throughout the story. Their business trials could cause this vibe, but it felt more personal.
The dogs, the girls, and even the camper-van create unique tales to capture your attention. I wonder if we are becoming jaded and demanding of action-packed adventures in our novels. This one is unique in that the daily chores and events create the story. There is no sex, no violence, no nail-biting drama. It was like a refreshing breath of fresh air.
Sharif mentions this debut novel is just the start of Mia’s travel journals. I certainly enjoyed her trip to Yosemite, Napa Valley, and Big Sur. I hope the next book is on its way soon.

About Bea Sharif
I'm a traveler, explorer, and now author. I've crisscrossed 60 countries on 5 continents, along with 16 US national parks. I've hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro, Fitz Roy, the W in Patagonia, the Andes in Chile, Mont Blanc, amongst others, and have fond memories of long stays in Paris and Hong Kong. My passion for road trips, hiking, and international explorations have inspired me to write a six-part travel series highlighting my wanderlust journeys and relationships along the way.
Until last year, I had never thought about writing a book.
Although we all believe we have a book in us, it never dawned on me to plunk myself down and write mine. But because traveling and experiencing nature are some of the most joyous experiences I've had, I realized I wanted to put pen to paper and share my tales of travel and self-discovery, placing them within the context of a fictional series that chronicles my most memorable journeys. This first book, the story of a California road trip I took in 2018 with my business partner/friend and her two adorable dogs, is the start. I hope you come along.
