While he hasn't officially met the sexy chemist, he's sure eager to explore the chemistry that's sizzling between them.

Bringing the charming SEAL together with the skeptical Olivia is going to take more than just Christmas cookies and a little help from Mrs. Claus; it's gonna take a heaping dose of Christmas magic.

Excerpt from Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship

“Dr. Olivia Chasen,” Santa’s jolly baritone popped her mental fuzzy bubble.

She stopped as she struggled to whirl around. “Me?” She touched her chest with a dramatic flourish she didn’t know she possessed.

A powerful spotlight illuminated her; its heat burned her already flushed face. She pressed a clammy palm to her chest. “How do you know my name?” The haze in her mind was paralyzing all cognitive functions.

“My dear girl,” Santa chuckled, “you should know by now that Santa knows everything and everyone,” he tapped an index finger to his temple.

Santa Claus turned to address the waiting line. “Girls, Boys, Moms, Dads, everyone, if you don’t mind waiting for a brief moment, I’d like for Olivia,” he pointed a white-gloved finger at her, “to please come up here on stage, and tell me what she wants for Christmas.”

She stood dumbfounded as the audience and the people in line clapped and chanted her name,

“Olivia! Olivia! Olivia!”

Oh no! What was she going to do? She couldn’t possibly go up onto that stage. She was far too shy to address a theater full of people. But if she didn’t go that would be so unexciting and so like the old Olivia. But she wasn’t unexciting! She was the new Olivia, and she was exciting! And she wanted to have fun! Correction: She was determined to have fun. Besides, she’d never see these people—her fellow passengers—ever again.

My thoughts on Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship

Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship cover image

If this book doesn’t lift your spirits, I’m not sure your name isn’t Scrooge. What more can you ask for in a light-hearted holiday romance?

You have two lonely people on a Christmas Cruise hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Throw in some sibling rivalry, buddies that have your back, lots of cookies, a little Christmas magic and you have an entertaining tale to get you in the holiday mood.

The camaraderie between the Navy Seals is touching. The comedic moments are priceless and made me smile throughout the book.

Overall, I highly recommend this tale of finding love where you least expect it. Did I mention there are unlimited Christmas cookies? That’s worth a star right there!

I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Interview with Parker Fairchild

How long have you been writing?
I’ve always loved to write and read. As a history major in college, I wrote a tremendous number of research papers. Before publishing my first novel, “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship,” I’d developed a successful career as a freelance writer and social media copywriter.

How do you choose your character names?
My mom recently lost her sister to breast cancer. Her last name was ‘Morse’. So, to honor her, I gave the surname of ‘Morse’ to my hero Jace. As for the rest of the names, I don’t really have a set system. If I get stuck or need inspiration, I’ll turn to one of the many baby name directories on the internet.

What inspired you to write in this genre?
Not all of the novels I have written or have outlined on my computer are romantic comedies. “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship” evolved from an inspiration I had on a Caribbean cruise, and then I literally married this to my other real-life experience of meeting my husband—love at first sight style—on a Hawaiian cruise. Setting the book during the holiday season was festive, fun, and reflective of my love of this time of the year.

If an author fictionalized your life, in which genre would the story belong?
I strive for daily happiness and joy, and since my husband can be very comedic, I’d have to say romantic comedy.

Do you have a set writing schedule?
I’m a morning person, so I thrive on writing in the morning and into the afternoon. I try to take off in the evenings, but if I’m pursuing a hot idea, I’ll work into the night if necessary to thoroughly flesh it out.

If you could set up your perfect writing scenario, what would it involve?
Right now, I could really use a vacation, so I could see myself writing away on a cruise somewhere in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean.

Do you usually arrive early, on time, or late?
I do my utmost to always arrive either early or on time.

Which three words best describe you?
Fun, kind, upbeat—my hubby calls me Sweetie Pie, so that gives you an idea of my temperament.

Is there anything you would like my readers to know about you and your book?
“Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship” will hopefully have you believing in real love again. My intention is to leave a smile on your face as you revel in the joys and blessings of the holiday season.

I also hope, through my development of my heroine, Olivia, that my female readers will see that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself, break out of your old self, and recreate a whole new you that’s more reflective of who you really are.
