My thoughts on The Disappearance of Emily
The book series Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic is a wonderful paranormal cozy mystery. The Disappearance of Emily is the second book in the series, and it follows the story of Hayden, who falls through a mirror and lands in a magical place called Destiny Falls.
In this story, Hayden learns more about the family she didn’t know she had, including her mother, Emily. The Destiny Falls Ferry captain contacts her with a package of documents that provides clues to her family’s history.
Unfortunately, the captain is found dead before they can meet. Hayden, with her family and new friends, must solve the mystery of the captain’s death and discover the secrets of Gladstone Island.
The Caldwell House, where Hayden lives, is magical and changes to suit the residents’ needs. Hayden gains a yoga room with a mirror that shows her family and friends in her old world. The story also features the town’s library and the quirky inhabitants.
The Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic series by Elizabeth Pantley is a fun read and easily fits the cozy mystery genre. It’s also suitable for young adult readers.
The story features a magic mirror, an enchanted world, a mysterious missing mother, a suspicious package, an unexplained death, a community of strange, quirky people, a sassy, talking cat, and a hilarious witch. Readers will enjoy the series for its funny, fluffy, far-fetched, and fabulous storylines.
I enjoyed this entry in the Destiny Falls series and am already looking forward to reading book three.
