The Third Element: The Missing Key to Activating the Law of Attraction by Randy Lyman is one of those books that quickly surprises you. While you might be expecting a typical personal improvement book, you will soon find that this one is a bit different in its approach. It blends science, philosophy, and storytelling with a profoundly personal sincerity.

Lyman takes a fresh look at the Law of Attraction, offering insights that go beyond the usual surface-level advice. Instead of just telling you to “think positive,” he digs into the deeper mechanics of how energy, intention, and consciousness really work.

How did you do research for your book?
100% personal experiences over the last 35 years, plus I experienced every principle once again at a more intense level during the past four years it took me to write the book.

Which was the most challenging part of the book to write? The section that explains The Law of Attraction down to the quantum level in a way that is fun to read and relatively interesting to understand was probably the most challenging and the most rewarding.

The easiest? The chapter that explains how our thoughts, the physical world, and our emotions all experience time differently.

In your book, you refer to a third horse. How did you come up with this idea? I make a reference to how our emotions are like a third horse pulling a king’s chariot that has been neglected and almost forgotten. The idea actually came to me through a good friend.

What makes you passionate about this subject? I want to share how being open to seeing the world through a different lens has improved my life many times over. I know anyone and everyone can use the insights and information I share in this book to improve their lives.

Where do you get inspiration for your stories? I am very intuitive. When I quiet my thinking mind and ask for answers, I see visions and answers that are better than I can come up with using my thinking mind when writing non-fiction. And I see visions of amazing stories when I surrender to the same process while writing fiction.

There are many books about the Law of Attraction. What makes yours different? This is the first book I know of that explains how our emotions interact with the Law of Attraction and how healing our unresolved emotional trauma greatly reduces the challenges we experience in all aspects of our daily lives.

What advice would you give budding writers? Know that it takes a lot of time and patience to get through all the steps required to write and publish a book. Be patient and don’t judge yourself during the process.

Your book is set in the present. Is this important to you? The infinitely expansive present moment and through our deliberate connection with our emotions we can and do experience a far more fulfilling life. I live in that place every day—even when there are challenges in my life.

In your book, you talk about embracing our pain. Why is that? In order to create a better life, we have to embrace our old emotional wounds rather than avoid them. The only way past the pain is through experiencing emotional pain completely. Once we experience it completely, it is gone like gasoline that has turned to flame, then heat. It can be a dramatic process (doesn’t always have to be), but once we feel the pain completely it is gone.

If you could put yourself as a character in your book, who would you be? I am in the introduction as it is about my introduction 35 years ago to a new way of looking at life.

Do you have another profession besides writing? Not currently. However, I am educated as a physicist and mechanical engineer. I had a 33-year career building automotive service, parts distribution, and manufacturing where I learned how to incorporate my understanding of human emotions and spirituality in a way that allowed my businesses to find incredible success.

How long have you been writing? For four years now.

Do you ever get writer’s block? What helps you overcome it? No. My trust in my intuition always draws ideas and words through me.

What is your next project? I am on the third draft of a fiction book about a 26-year-old woman who grew up in a small town and moved to a big city, only to find her way back to he small town where she works through the challenges of her personal and family relationships.

What genre do you write and why? Spirituality and Self-Help to provide people with a reason for faith and hope. Romance as a great place to share great stories of personal transformation and hope.

What is the last great book you’ve read? Illusions by Richard Bach
