Source: iRead Book ToursFrom the author of THE COMPOUND, this gripping dystopian novel explores the delicate lines between truth and propaganda. As the president focuses all efforts on securing his position of power, employing tactics that blur the lines between lawful governance and autocracy, a variety of individuals must confront their own beliefs, biases, and fears. R is a riveting exploration of the American psyche, examining the themes of racism, white supremacy, and the steadfast quest for power.
Each character, rooted in their own beliefs and experiences, provides a unique lens examining the fabric of America. As misinformation and conspiracy theories flood the internet colliding with legitimate news sources, the characters' paths intersect in unexpected ways, challenging their convictions. R isn't just a story; it's a wake-up call to the resilience of the human spirit, with a mirror reflecting our highest hopes and deepest fears.
As the clock counts down to the election, the question remains: can democracy survive the storm, or will it crumble under the weight of its ideals betrayed?

My thoughts on R: A NOVEL by Eli Wellington
R: A Novel by Eli Wellington combines elements of science fiction, fantasy, and the harsh realities of life and politics. While it sparks critical thinking, it leans more toward speculation rather than a traditional dystopian story.
This cleverly veiled portrayal of politics and our present-day political figures serves as a valuable lesson in protecting our democracy and freedom.
The characters are well developed and surprisingly easy to connect with—well as relatable as politicians can get. However, there are quite a few characters to keep tabs on. Having a notepad handy might be helpful.
In essence, R: A Novel presents a gripping narrative that challenges our perspectives and underscores the vulnerability of our political structures.
Enthusiasts of politics and speculative fiction will devour this book!
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

The short answer to what three books would I want on a deserted island is a dictionary, thesaurus, and a blank journal (with tons of pages and a pen!) It might seem that I misunderstood the question because I’m sure the intention is to learn what books I want to read over and over again; the ones that I never get tired of revisiting. But I think that would start to feel limiting (assuming I’m on this island for a long time.)
A dictionary and thesaurus can expand my horizons, and the blank journal gives me a place to write. I realized I made a lot of assumptions about my circumstances. For one (and I’m not sure why) I’m assuming I’m on this island alone. Maybe it’s because that always seems to be the type of deserted island story throughline. Tom Hanks, in the movie Castaway, uses a soccer ball to create companionship to avoid going mad. That’s how I feel about writing.
If I wasn’t able to jot down an idea or thought, maybe expand on it to turn it into a short story, essay, or even a novel, that would be so much harder than whether or not I got to read book X for the 100th time. At that point, it’s ingrained in my mind, and I can cite passages verbatim. Why do I need the physical book? I could live a lifetime and probably still be learning new words along with antonyms and synonyms. I’m also assuming, as with any good deserted island story, there is discovery at the end. The castaway gets reintroduced to society, and when that happens, at least I’ll (hopefully) still be able to have a decent conversation.
