An orphan endures her grim childhood by cultivating a powerful belief in the myth, the fairy tale, the happily ever after. But now she’s all grown up…
Lindsey, a kinder teacher in survival mode after an unthinkable divorce is brilliant in the classroom where inquisitive and humorous children surround her. Unfortunately, unwanted sinister challenges invade her off- hours. Strange phone calls haunt her. A stalker, perhaps?

After learning the shocking truth about her ex-husband, she doesn’t want to be alone. Still, she isn’t ready to go looking for new love, but men find her anyway. She’s thankful for her 180-pound mastiff, Wendell. He thinks he can solve her problems. Sometimes, he does. He’s lovable, he’s loyal, and … he’s the teacher’s pet.

By chance, Lindsey meets a handsome grad student with a propensity to play detective and who is also involved in some tricky human research. His eyes are on Lindsey. But will his heart follow? Can she learn to trust again and allow him into her life amid the odd mysteries that keep springing up?

A teacher. A lover. A survivor. All Lindsey wants is her own happily ever after.

My thoughts on Wanted: An Honest Man

Wanted: An Honest Man (Lindsey Lark #1) by Cricket Rohman book cover image

Review of Wanted: An Honest Man by Cricket Rohman

I have reviewed a few books from this author and have always enjoyed them. I decided it was time to start reading more of her works. I’m starting this project with Lindsey Lark #1 – Wanted: An Honest Man.

The Quick Thoughts:
I loved the connection with believing in Fairytales. Wendell the mastiff stole my heart! The book reads smoothly and quickly. Themes: Romance, Light-suspense, Divorce, Childhood trauma/abuse, Teachers, Bestfriends, Starting over, LGBTQIA

Overall:
Wanted: An Honest Man is an easy read with a few spots that get pretty deep. You can keep it light or delve deeper into the problems the characters encounter.

There is enough mystery thread woven through the story to keep you turning the pages. Several plot twists occurred, some I saw coming, and a few were complete surprises.

The characters have flaws, and I was quick to love or despise several people. A few I waffled on several times, there’s your intrigue. As always in Ms. Rohman’s novels, there is a fabulous dog. Wendell stole my heart!

This book is the first in a series. There were no cliffhangers, but you are left wanting to know more.

Fans of romantic intrigue should enjoy this book immensely. Although, for me, friendship was also a compelling theme throughout.

This review is my honest, unbiased opinion of a book I purchased.

Bonus:

The Linsey Lark series is finished. You don’t have to wait for the next book.

Cricket's best known novels are the books in The Lindsey Lark Series.

And, yes. Cricket’s novels are fiction . . . Really! (OK, except the part about the dog; she really had a dog like Wendell, the mastiff in this series.)
