Autumn’s first lie was a whopper!

She’s been a very good girl for twenty-two years until a dream-come-true opportunity lands in her lap thanks to the ingenuity of her book club friends. Her wealthy, overprotective parents fall for her escape plan. Although her boldness came easier than expected, Autumn wonders how long feelings of guilt might haunt her.

Still, this gift from the Fantasy Maker—a vacation to New Hampshire a few weeks before Halloween—might prepare her for a graduate program in photography.

However, nothing could have prepared her for Ranger, the handsome Forest Service pilot.

Fate takes over quickly. Autumn snaps fantastic fall photos and helps Ranger with his odd, spooky inheritance project. Sparks fly, and so do their ghosts. Enjoy a little mystery mixed with romance wrapped up in a holiday theme and a quaint New England setting,

Excerpt from Autumn’s Ghost

As Mother and I sat at the waterfront restaurant enjoying the slight breeze and the sound of the Gulf’s gently lapping blue water, a seagull swooped low, causing us to duck from its trajectory. Mother laughed and said, “Wouldn’t you know that the one time I didn’t wear a hat, I’d be accosted by a bird.” I looked up, chuckling to express that I’d heard her comment.

“You’re mighty quiet today, Autumn,” she said. “What’s on your mind?” “Just thinking about applying to grad school.” “Oh, why would you want to do that? We can give youeverything you’ll ever need.” My mother was clueless when it came to being anything other than the wife of a wealthy man.

“That may well be, Mother. But what I want is a career in photojournalism. I doubt you can give me that.” “We’ll discuss this at another time. Today our topic is your birthday. How about a nice lunch in Paris or Prague? You name it, and I’ll make it happen.”

My shoulders slumped. No matter what my age, nothing ever changed. They still treated me like a China doll.

My thoughts on Autumn’s Ghost

Autumn’s Ghost is a charming quick story to read on a lovely fall evening.

Cricket Rohman has a knack for writing captivating clean romantic fiction. She lived up to that reputation with this book.

Autumn and Ranger have that instant sizzle necessary to carry the romance part of the story.

Autumn’s affluent parents are overly strict and treat her like a much younger girl than a woman who has just graduated college.

Up until now, she’s been perfectly happy to let them make all the decisions for her. She has a best friend and her library book club to keep her busy.

When she wins a contest from the Fantasy Maker, she sneaks off to fulfill her dreams of a vacation to photograph New Hampshire’s fall changing of the season.

Through a series of mishaps and fortuitous coincidences, she and Ranger put their chemistry to the test.

The story has everything from a mysterious benefactor to a haunted house. I normally love a story with a faithful dog, but the inherited horse & injured wild red fox fill that role admirably.

The descriptive details are vivid and create beautiful images throughout the book.

There were occasional places where I felt like I needed a tad more information. However, this is part of a series, and I trust the author to tie these mysteries up with the perfect bow in the next books.

I recommend this delightful tale to all lovers of fall, Halloween, and sweet romance.

I received a free digital copy of this book via Booksprout. This is my honest, unbiased opinion.
