Join Hattie and Jo as they head to Southern Ireland to open Boomerville Manor, a holiday retreat for guests of ‘a certain age’. There’s Irish craic and shenanigans aplenty for the colourful cast of characters as everyone gathers for the grand opening.
Meet Melissa, an ex-cabaret singer running from her abusive husband, and Bill, a bachelor bullied from beyond the grave by the ghostly voice of his mother. Along with local bobby Harry the Helmet, ageing aquatic team the Boomerville Babes, eccentric artist Lucinda Gray, and heartthrob Finbar Murphy, they gather in Ireland and the fun begins. But murder is in the air and there’s mischief afoot. Will the residents get more than they bargained for at Boomerville?
Set in the beautiful Irish countryside, ‘Boomerville at Ballymegille’ is a heart-warming story of friendship, fears and new beginnings.

Boomerville at Ballymegille By Caroline James
I have not read a Caroline James book before but can assure you this won’t be my last. The characters are lively, well-written, and jump off the page. The storyline is full of turns and dips but never difficult to follow.
After the death of her husband, Hattie returns to Boomerville. She’s just in time to help her friend Jo in her quest to open a new Boomerville resort in the southern part of Ireland.
With a cast of characters, some old and some new, hilarity ensues as everyone pitches in to get the new resort up and running.
A few darker themes are lurking in the background, such as spousal abuse, murder, mental instability, and drug usage. These are treated with respect.
Overall, this quick read is entertaining, and it’s quite a joy to see characters of a ‘certain age’ presented as vibrant, sexy, hilarious, and full of life.
I read this book for a Rachel’s Random Resources book tour and have written an honest, unbiased review.
