My thoughts on Butterfly Love from Above
Butterfly Love from Above is an endearing story about a little girl learning to deal with grief and helping others see the light.
The story itself is delightful, inspiring hope, sharing feelings, and allowing kids to see that the sunshine will return and drive the dark clouds away.
Kate Solenova’s illustrations enhance the story for readers of all ages. They are superbly done.
I highly recommend this tale to all children, parents, caretakers, schools, and libraries. It is an excellent resource for helping everyone, young and old, about the importance of acknowledging grief and learning to cope.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

A Forgotten Dream Comes True
If someone would have told me that I would soon write a book and become an author, I would never have believed them! I had big plans for over a decade to open my own Spin Fitness studio as soon as my husband wrapped up his 16-year career in the NHL. I had been in the Fitness industry for 15 years and was so excited for this dream to finally come true! We found the perfect space and we were about to sign a 5-year lease, when my back unexpectedly ruptured after a day of horseback riding! In that very moment, my plans and dreams blew up.
Over the next couple of years, I endured multiple spinal surgeries and many other physical setbacks. I had to pick myself up from a state of despair and decide if I was going to just sit and feel sorry for myself or find something else to bring me joy. I remember asking myself what else could I possibly do if I couldn’t teach fitness classes or ride a horse anymore. Those were the two things that I loved most to do.
I was listening to a podcast one day and the woman caught my attention when she said, “Write your story! The world needs to hear your story!” I had a flashback of me as a little girl sitting in my room writing stories I had dreamed up and taping the pages together to look like little books. Teachers would always tell my mom that I was a sweet girl but tended to daydream a lot in class. I was often times staring out the window during class, thinking of characters and stories to write about. How had I forgotten how much I loved to read and write as a young girl? The years had flown by, and I had completely forgotten that writing was a favorite hobby of mine all those years ago! “
I ended up reaching out to that woman on the podcast and told her about my story idea. She owned her own publishing company and I know I was meant to call her that day! It was my real-life events playing out right in front of me. I hoped to write about the magic healing of butterflies and horses! They had brought me such peace and joy the past 2 years while going through this dark storm. I had spent many hours at the barn surrounded by horses and nature, and it was so healing.
I wanted to get the message out to others that may be stuck under a dark cloud or hit with an unexpected loss of either a loved one or a dream that hadn’t come true, to always look up and to spread kindness and lift others up who may also be stuck under a dark cloud of their own. The best way to find the sunshine while in the middle of a storm, is by taking the focus off ourselves and lending a hand to others in need. I hope this book touches the hearts of all who read it! I’m so thankful for a forgotten dream that came true!
