Source: iRead Book Tours, Received from the author or publisher for review.Sherri Van Ness, an unassuming girl from Kansas is about to embark on the adventure of her life when she signs up to become a stewardess. But it’s more turbulent than this doughy-eyed 19-year-old imagined as she tries to navigate past grouchy passengers, fly-by-night relationships, and the unforgiving, relentless, humiliating, monthly weigh-ins in 1978. Some dreams come true. Others require a vomit bag.
That’s not to say Sherri doesn’t enjoy herself. Au contraire! There are friends to be made and men to be made, and the maid who made up her room in New York is so nice!
Yes, the work is difficult at times and the money isn’t always good, but there are perks: free flights and an endless supply of tiny vodka bottles and salted peanuts (peanut allergies hadn’t been invented yet.)Like Dorothy Gale sans Toto, Sherri leaves Kansas and finds herself amidst a cast of characters as strange to her as the Scarecrow and the Munchkins were to Dorothy. Her whirlwind journey takes her from innocent, insecure stewardess to mature and confident flight attendant.
Book your flight now with this very enjoyable read, put your seat back in the upright position, and enjoy the ride!
Content Rating: PG. A few romantic encounters but light on the details. Reference to tobacco use.

My thoughts on FlightLog
Have you ever entertained the thought of being a flight attendant? Then you have to read this fast, fun, semi-fictional tale.
Sherri Van Ness is a small-town Kansas girl ready to leave her roots behind and live the exciting life of a stewardess. This is set in the late 1970s and early 1980s, just as the job transitioned to “flight attendant” and opened up to more diverse applicants.
SUZ pulls back the curtain to show all the profession’s perks, pros, and cons. She fills the pages with witty banter, behind-the-scenes facts, self-deprecating humor, and fabulous locales.
When I was coming of age in the early 1970s in my small rural town, you couldn’t dream of a more glamorous job than being a stewardess. It was a popular pick on career day. Life changed, and that dream faded, which was probably for the best. I would have hated those weekly weigh-ins.
I listened to the audiobook for this tour. The story was wonderful, but it did take a bit of time to accustom myself to the narrator’s cadence and pacing. Once I adjusted, I breezed right through this story.
I’m sure the newest generation of readers will consider this historical fiction. For me, it was a delightful glimpse back to a different era. There were no cell phones, computers, digital logbooks, etc., to simplify or perhaps complicate life.
Fans of semi-fictional tales from the time period will absolutely love this one.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

This sounds really good. I agree, back in the day, I wanted to be a “stewardess” as it was such a glamorous life!
