Welcome to the Friday Finds for 08-02-2024.
I can’t really say I’m feeling under the weather, but darn, I despise humidity and pollen! lol. Does anyone else have issues with those? I can usually get by with children’s Benadryl, but even it sometimes makes me sleepy.
We are heavily into using the garden produce right now. If we can’t eat it immediately, it goes in the freezer, or sometimes I vacuum seal it and put it in the barn fridge until we can get to it. A person can only eat so much cabbage in a week!
Speaking of vacuum sealers, I completely wore out my old one. It died right in the middle of cooking 16 quarts of sweet corn. I put the pot in the fridge and ordered a new sealer with Amazon’s 2-day delivery! There is a link to my new one at the bottom of the post. I love it so far!
Okay, I’m going to wrap up this edition. I need to move on to the other 50,000 things on my to-do list!
Until next week,
Gina
Note: I will be selecting the August “Author of the Month” & the next trivia winner this week. Check my social media for an early look at the winners. They will be officially announced in next Friday’s post.

What are you reading this week? Here are a couple of suggestions for books I recently added to my queue.
Love Letters to a Serial Killer by Tasha Coryell
An aimless young woman starts writing to an accused serial killer while he awaits trial and then, once he’s acquitted, decides to move in with him and take the investigation into her own hands in this dark and irresistibly compelling debut thriller. (via Jonetta at The Blue Mood Cafe)

She’s single and not ready to mingle. He’s a military hero playing nanny to his niece and nephew. Will these enemies survive summer pretending to be a couple?
This is advertised as a second-chance, snack-size short read that will leave you satisfied with all the swoony kisses and a HEA but none of the steam or cliffhangers. It sounds perfect for a quick summer read.

Weekly Friday Finds | 08-02-2024 | Trivia Time
I am such a big fan of the Olympics. This week’s trivia question is:
Who was the first woman to win an Olympic gold medal?
Leave your answer in the comment section to be entered into this month’s trivia contest.
The answer to last week’s question:
Approximately what percentage of flowers sold in the United States are grown overseas?
Approximately 80% of fresh flowers sold in the U.S. are imported. The majority of these imported flowers come from South American countries, primarily Colombia and Ecuador. This importation is due to the favorable climates in these countries for year-round flower cultivation. (from Windows Copilot)

Thank you Gina for sharing your ‘finds’!
You are welcome, Eve. Thanks for stopping by today.
We haven’t gotten much out of our garden this year. We planted way too late because of too much stuff to do and now we don’t have any veggies yet. Hopefully soon!
Hélène de Pourtalès was the first woman to win a gold medal in 1900.
Have a great weekend!
You too, Jessica. I hope I got your back-to-school bundle link right. If not let me know asap & I’ll correct it.
Yes, it is correct! Thank you so much for including it!
Thank you for the shout out! And for introducing me to the adorable punch needle kit!
You are welcome, Ashlee. I used to do punch-needle work. These are so cute, I may have to try it again.
“A person can only eat so much cabbage in a week!” And the rest can be made into sauerkraut, to be enjoyed year round. 😉
True, but I am pretty lazy. Haha. Sauerkraut is labor intensive for at least 3 weeks!
Hope it’s ok to mention here that the Goodreads Giveaway for my just-released historical fiction novel TAYVIE’S STORY ends this Sunday, Aug. 4: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/393528-tayvie-s-story
Of course. I wish I had thought to mention it myself.
