Won’t you drop a comment below and share what you’ve been enjoying this week?
Until next time, wishing you peace!

This Ritz cracker chicken casserole is a classic creamy chicken casserole, great for a weeknight dinner. Rotisserie chicken makes it easier, and the buttery cracker topping provides that familiar crunch.

Weekly Friday Finds | 08-16-2024 | Books
What are you reading this week? Here are a couple of suggestions for books I recently added to my queue.
An investigation into a girl’s disappearance uncovers a mystery dating back to World War II in a haunting novel of suspense by the bestselling author of The Venice Sketchbook and The Paris Assignment.
London: 1968. Liz Houghton is languishing as an obituary writer at a London newspaper when a young girl’s disappearance captivates the city. If Liz can break the story, it’s her way into the newsroom. She already has a scoop: her best friend, Marisa, is a police officer assigned to the case.
Liz follows Marisa to Dorset, where they make another disturbing discovery. Over two decades earlier, three girls disappeared while evacuating from London. One was found murdered in the woods near a train line. The other two were never seen again.
As Liz digs deeper, she finds herself drawn to the village of Tydeham, which was requisitioned by the military during the war and left in ruins. After all these years, what could possibly link the missing girls to this abandoned village? And why does a place Liz has never seen before seem so strangely familiar?

First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg
Head back to school with the bestselling picture book classic! The perennial classroom read-aloud favorite for students and teachers, reminding us we all get the jitters sometimes.
A perfect new school year pick for kindergarteners, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders who are feeling nervous or anxious about starting their first day.
Sarah Jane Hartwell has that sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach—she’s nervous and doesn’t want to start a new school year. She doesn’t know anybody, and nobody knows her. It will be awful. She just knows it.
With a little convincing from Mr. Hartwell, Sarah Jane reluctantly heads to class. Shy at first, she’s quickly befriended by Mrs. Burton and is reminded that everyone at school gets the jitters sometimes.
A beloved and bestselling back-to-school staple, Sarah Jane’s relatable story and surprise ending will delight seasoned students and new faces alike who are anxious about their first day.

Authors, if you participate in StoryOrigin promotions, please send me your promo details and any other news I might share with my readers.

I’m sharing BBNYA news in this section since all the books are by independent authors. We are into round two, and I’m enjoying the books that have been assigned to me. I can’t talk about them yet, but I sure hope they all do well. Here is what Round 2 is comprised of:
The second round will be a deeper dive into the book. The panelists read the first ten thousand (10,000) words of the books that advanced to round two and will be scored based on the same criteria as round one. The books with the best scores will advance to round three – the finale. We will announce the finalists on our official website and social media.
Note: The top 65 semi-finalists will receive prizes. The nature of these prizes depends on the novel’s ranking at the end of this round. See all the prizes here.

Weekly Friday Finds | 08-16-2024 | Trivia Time
This week’s trivia question is a riddle.
Leave your answer in the comment section to be entered into this month’s trivia contest.
The answer to last week’s question:
What was the first “printed” cookbook to be published?
The first printed cookbook was “De honesta voluptate et valetudine” (“On Right Pleasure and Good Health”) by Bartolomeo Platina. It was written in Latin and appeared in 1474, just 19 years after the Gutenberg Bible, the first mechanically printed book.
