Weekly Friday Finds | 08-30-2024|
Welcome to the Friday Finds for 08-30-2024.
I’m immensely enjoying my week away with the littlest grandsons. I’ve barely read anything (except my BBNYA second-round excerpts) or written much. But I now know more about Creepers, Super Kitties, and the Titanic theories than I could possibly want to.
Today’s post is hit & miss as to what I thought of and had time to put in. Obviously, my surfing for finds time has been limited.
Tomorrow is a Lake Michigan cruise, and then I’ll be heading home.
Until next week,
Gina
The trivia contest winner and the “author of the month” will be determined after I get home to my notes and the prize jar!

Recipes from Wisconsin were on my mind today. Here are two that I’m considering.
Smoked Apple Crisp from Gather Wisconsin
Picking apples is definitely a fun family activity up here. The orchards are plentiful, and the apples are delicious.
~~~~~~~~~~
Air-Fryer Cheese Curds from Gather Wisconsin
Cheese curds are also a menu staple in Wisconsin. These are air-fried and look so tasty.
What are you reading this week? I’m finishing up my last BBNYA 10k Excerpt today, which means I finished 10—count ’em—TEN days early. That might be a record for me. This should give me time to get caught up on personal reading before the final round is announced.
These are on my to-be-read-soon list.
Late for the Bus Tour: A Senior Sleuths Cozy Mystery (The Way Over The Hill Gang) by MK Scott
Get ready for a delightful blend of mystery, comedy, and heartwarming moments as the dynamic sleuths unravel a cold case, all while uncovering Elvis’ favorite recipes and trivia. “Late for the Bus Tour” is a charming and entertaining tale that will have you laughing, guessing, and tapping your toes to the King’s tunes until the very end.
You can read more about MK Wyatt on my blog or their Amazon author page.
A former WWI ace pilot and his wing walker wife barnstorm across Depression-era America, performing acts of aerial daring.
Brown has taken a tantalizing tidbit from William Faulkner’s real-life—an evening’s chance encounter with two daredevils in New Orleans—and set it aloft in this fabulous novel. With scintillating prose and an action-packed plot, he has captured the true essence of a bygone era and shed new light on the heart and motivations of one of America’s greatest authors.
Today, 8-30-2024, is the launch day for historical romance writer GL Robinson’s latest book.
I Have Always Loved You by GL Robinson
Two People. Two Different Lives. One Love
Like the Roman matron for whom she is named, plain but clever Octavia seems destined for abandonment. Handsome, fun-loving and heir to an earldom, Dorian is the opposite. In Regency London, life for him is a game in which other people, including Octavia, are his pawns.
This story, told with wit and humour by the two main characters in turn, and shifting from Italy to England over a spread of more than twenty years, demonstrates the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of love.
“This novel is a new departure for me, being a first-person narrative from the point of view of the two main characters. I’m quite proud of it because a first-person narrative is much harder to write than the third-person I generally use. As the narrator, you only know what the character knows! You aren’t omniscient! But I’ll be interested to know what you think. You are the final judges!”
It is still available for just .99 cents for a few more days. Just click the button!
Aww, thank you for mentioning my blog! 🥰 Also those cheese curds look heavenly, I am getting hungry!
Just enjoy being Grandma, we can always catch up later. 💗
Have fun with your family on your trip! Sounds like fun! Save travels! The answer to the trivia question is five feet tall! Have a great Labor Day weekend!
I’ve always wondered what cheese curds taste like, and whether all the hype is true.😁
I love them! But I think air-fried might be a bit healthier. If you have a Culver’s nearby, their’s are pretty good. I don’t think I ever saw cheese curds when I was visiting CA.
