Welcome to the Friday Finds for 09-27-2024.
How was your week? Is there any news you would like to share?
While writing this, the big news is Hurricane Helene. Unfortunately, many lives have been lost, and considerable damage has been caused. My heart just aches for everyone affected by the storm.
I’m gearing up on the blog for the last quarter of the year. I seriously over-committed myself. Between spotlights for the BBNYA semi-finalists, reading my assigned full books for the finals, Indie Author commitments, and blog tours, It’s gonna be a wild ride.
So, I better sign off here and get busy!
Gina
PS!!! New Author of the Month and trivia contest winners will be chosen this week. Get your entries in NOW or maybe this weekend?

Dolly Parton and her sister Rachel Parton George grew up with their mama, grandmas, and aunts making this classic dessert from scratch.
There are so many versions of banana pudding—or puddin’, as we call it. This one allows you to make it from scratch like we do and always have, just like our mama and our grandmas and our aunts used to do. Just be sure to make enough! After putting in the effort, you don’t want to be the one to go, “Where’s the banana pudding? I missed it!”

- 272 Pages - 09/17/2024 (Publication Date) - Ten Speed Press (Publisher)

Cowboy Spaghetti from Southern Living
This is really intended to be a fridge and pantry clean-out type of dish—throw in whatever produce you have (peppers, onions, celery) and canned goods (tomatoes, beans, and veggies). You can’t go wrong.
Did you know your Kindle Unlimited Subscription gives you FREE access to all kinds of magazines? If I knew that, I forgot. I just read the latest issue of Southern Living magazine…for free! (Well, as part of my KU membership. I think I make that fee back in a week!)

I’m going to try this one in audiobook form. I heard it’s even better in her delightful southern voice.
The beloved comedy sensation packs a hilarious punch with real talk about what it’s like to be a woman today—from rebelling against the latest diet trends to dealing with perimenopausal mean girls and attending rock concerts in middle age.
For a long time, no one pulling the strings in the comedy world thought that a woman over fifty from rural Tennessee could make it in the industry. But Leanne Morgan has defied the odds, reaching millions with her musings on hormones, low-rise britches, Weight Watchers, and her opposites-attract relationship with her husband, Chuck.
In her charming southern accent, Morgan brings listeners inside her quest to find her voice after spending many years trying to figure out what that meant. Along the way, we learn how she grew up as a butcher’s daughter, landed a husband with health insurance, honed her stand-up technique selling jewelry at house parties, embraced the glories of aging, and surrendered to the comfort of wearing big flesh-toned panties.
Equal parts warm and hilarious, this book is a must-listen by one of comedy’s rising stars—reminding you that every time life leaves you asking “What in the world?!,” something good is bound to come out of it someday.
