Weekly Friday Finds | 11-01-2024| Books ~ Crafts ~ Holiday Recipes ~ Indie Authors ~ Trivia Contest
Welcome to the Friday Finds for 11-01-2024.
Wow, what a week!! I’ve been out to breakfast with friends, Christmas shopping has begun, and I am still trying to find a replacement furnace. My article was published in Lou Kemp’s newsletter, and I’m hoping to gain some traction from that endeavor. The BBNYA Semi-finalist tour is going great. There is a new post every day featuring a semi-finalist until December 4. Look for the hashtag #BBNYA2024 on ALL the social media sites to follow along. You can find my posts below in the Indie Author segment.
The US election is supposedly winding down. November 5th is the day. Let’s all hope it’s peaceful, regardless of the outcome. I know my stress levels are climbing every day.
Until next week, Be Calm & Happy!
Gina

Weekly Friday Finds | 11-01-2024 | Recipes
Let’s start building up that holiday recipe box. Let me know what recipes you need to complete your menu, and I’ll see if I can help. This week, I’m sharing some appetizers. Now, you would think since holiday meals generally involve a bit of overeating, we wouldn’t need appetizers. But people always need something to nosh on while they wait for the main meal to be ready.
I know that holiday meal times around my house are always flexible. It takes a more organized brain than mine to have everything on the table at a set time. There is always that last-minute panic: I forgot to heat the rolls back up, or where did I put the sweet potatoes? Hint: always check the microwave!
3-Ingredient No-Bake Pumpkin Appetizer
This would be an excellent appetizer for any holiday event.

Orange-Glazed Pecans
This classic Southern treat is a fall feast must-have!

Weekly Friday Finds | 11-01-2024 | Trivia Time
This week’s trivia question is:
What common household item can be used as a makeshift paintbrush in crafting to create unique textures and patterns?
Leave your answer in the comment section to be entered into this month’s trivia contest. Since we took a short break from the trivia section, I will let the drawing go until the end of November.
The answer to last week’s question:
What condiment was used for its medicinal qualities in the 1800s?
I would have bet it was mustard. I have heard of mustard plasters. Good thing I’m not a betting person.
Ketchup was actually used for medicinal purposes in the 1800s! In the 1830s, Dr. John Cook Bennett claimed that tomato ketchup could cure ailments like indigestion, diarrhea, and jaundice. He even made “tomato pills” that were marketed as health supplements.

Trivia Answer: A fork
Oh great answer, Ellwyn. I put 2 entries in the Trivia Jar with your name on them.
I’m so sick of getting tons of stuff in the mail so I can’t wait until next week so we don’t get so much mail anymore once the election is over!
This week’s trivia question is stumping me! My best guess is a clothes pin to hold a sponge to paint with.
Have a great weekend!
Sponge is correct. I’ve got both of your entries in the trivia jar!
