Friday Finds | 12-06-2024 | Books ~ Crafts ~ Holiday Recipes ~ Indie Authors ~ Contests
Welcome to the Friday Finds for December 06, 2024!
I’m home from Wisconsin. Yay! I brought a wicked head cold home with me. Boo! But I wouldn’t have traded my time with family for anything. The littles are no longer little all too soon.
Significant changes are coming to the blog soon. I haven’t settled on the final version, but I promise you will be the first to know when I decide. This is your last chance to let me know what you love and what you don’t about the blog. I can’t promise to implement all the recommendations, but I guarantee I will consider them.
I do hope you will stick with me in 2025. It’s going to be a great year.
Peace, Love, and Happy Holidays!
💖 Gina

It’s about time to plan the Holiday Cookie Tray. Here are two of my favorites.
Chocolate-Scotcheroos by Taste of Home
This is a basic, simple recipe, but I love that ToH included tips & tricks to help ensure your success.

This is another recipe that tastes decadent but is so simple. My tip for this is NOT to use sugar-free jello. It doesn’t set up correctly, and my strawberry section slid off, making for a messy-looking dessert. If your family is anything like mine, they love to disagree about whether this is a dessert or a salad. I vote for dessert!
Weekly Friday Finds | 12-06-2024 | Blog Posts
These were my top-performing blog posts from the past two weeks.
Anastasia’s Midnight Song by M Laszlo
These Are Not My Words (I Just Wrote Them) by Donovan Hufnagle
An enlightening and deeply personal collection that will resonate with readers who appreciate introspective and lyrical poetry.
Perfect for fans of complex family dynamics, dark secrets, and pulse-pounding suspense.
Jo Linsdell’s “The Box” beautifully celebrates imagination and creativity. The story shows how something as ordinary as a cardboard box can become a boundless adventure through simple yet engaging prose and delightful illustrations.
The Poseidon Project by E. William Podojil
It’s a gripping thriller that will captivate fans of pulse-pounding adventures, heart-stopping suspense, and intricate mysteries.
Weekly Friday Finds | 12-06-2024 | Fun Time
I plan to stick with fun questions for the time being instead of trivia-type questions.
What’s the weirdest snack you like to eat?
Mine is probably peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches. While they don’t seem weird at all to me, my family tends to disagree.
Leave your answer in the comment section to be entered in the next drawing.

Weekly Friday Finds | 12-06-2024| Creative News
I finished the rainbow sweater for my littlest grandson’s birthday. He loved it. I even found cute cat buttons for it. Unfortunately, I failed to take a picture. I’ll have my daughter send me one soon.

I don’t really have any weird snacks. I don’t think peanut butter and pickles sounds good though.
One of my weirdest snacks is vanilla ice cream and crushed saltines! 😋
I can kind of see that. Nothing like a mix of sweet & salty!
The cat buttons look adorable, but pickles with peanut? Sorry Gina, but no, and no! 🙂
Haha…wait till you try it with Durkee crispy fried onions! What’s your weird snack?
I love your blog posts. Your recipes and book suggestions are my favorite. Oh, and love the crafts, too. Those cats buttons are adorable!
Okay, weird foods. Your sandwich is not far off from our son’s favorite. His is peanut butter and plain sliced cucumbers. My mother introduced them to when he was little and he has loved them every since. A refreshing taste, especially in the summer months.
Enjoy your holidays, Gina.

Thanks Rosie! I will have to try that combo.
Gina – thanks so much for including Trillium’s info for our concert tonight (12.6.24)! We’re an acoustic folk quartet based in the Chicago burbs with an eclectic repertoire including traditional Celtic, bluegrass, Americana, ragtime, Country, and this time of year, holiday music. For some reason the web link mentioned above doesn’t seem to be working, so if you or anyone might be interested, the concert also live streams and is then archived for the next two weeks: https://twowaystreet.org/
Sorry about that, Mim. I fixed it in the blog post, but I can’t change the email. I’ll try to share it again in next week’s email in case folks want to catch the live stream.
