Friday Finds | December 4, 2020
Hello, hello! Welcome to December. How is this even possible? For the year that has lasted forever, all of a sudden it’s nearing the end of 2020. I haven’t decorated or done any holiday shopping yet. But I’m hoping to tackle some of those chores this weekend. Are you an early decorator and shopper? One of my daughters is done! Her house looks beautiful and all her gifts are wrapped and under the tree. I don’t know where she gets that from, but it’s not me. haha
This week’s edition has some book suggestions, a delicious recipe, and a creative project. If you are on my Friday Finds email list, I hope you enjoyed your bonus this week. If you aren’t on the list, sign up soon because more subscriber appreciation gifts are in the works.

Who’s Jerry (Seen and Not Heard series) by T. M. Jackson
In this educational picture book, a little girl discovers her mommy has schizophrenia and needs to get help before she can function normally again. Told with warmth and understanding and beautifully illustrated on every page, Who’s Jerry? will help caregivers and children connect with one another and explain a sometimes difficult to understand subject. An excellent resource for facilitating a conversation with children about mental health and wellbeing, especially if someone they know has experienced a similar diagnosis to Imani’s mom.
Beyond the Dragonhead (Viking Refugees Book 1) by Kelly Nichols and Alyn Rockwood
Drawing from Viking history and ancient Norse culture, “Beyond the Dragonhead” is a story woven amongst fallout from the betrayal of Norway’s King Olaf Tryggvason at the Battle of Svolder. This novel is perfect for historical fiction lovers and fans of Vikings who believe they were more than just bloodthirsty raiders.
Keep Walking, Your Heart Will Catch Up by Cathay Reta
“Keep Walking” is a modern-day pilgrimage, a spiritual journey, a physical feat. Cathay was in her mid-60s and entering a new phase of life. In phase one she had been single for 29 years. Phase two followed with 33 years of marriage. Now widowed, she was looking for direction for her next 30 years. That’s when she felt called to hike the Camino de Santiago, the centuries-old 483-mile trail across northern Spain. After 37 days she reached her destination. “Keep Walking” is her story of self-discovery, transformation, and renewal, all set in the magical, mystical field of the stars, the Camino de Santiago.

The Chocolate Box looks fascinating and what about that soup. Yum. I crochet but doubt I could create those charmers. Adorbs.

There are usually around 100 requests on the list! It’s practically a full-time job keeping them straight, let alone the reading & reviewing time. Lol
