Friday Finds for 01 July 2022 | The Grand Giveaway Winner! + Indie Authors, Author News, Summer Recipes, Spun Cotton Crafts & a Blog Roundup
Hello, my friends & welcome to the Friday Finds for 01 July 2022!
I was absolutely shocked by the number of entries in my 1000th Post Grand Giveaway! So much so that I decided to give two lucky winners an Amazon gift card. Rosie R & Carla H will each receive a $25 card. Congrats to them and thank you to everyone for the kind words and for supporting the blog each week!
In gardening news, we are finally reaping the benefits of all the hard work hubby put into the garden. This week we’ve had fresh broccoli, cauliflower, onions, green beans, and cabbages. We have a pretty solid plan around here… He grows it, I prepare it. Look for garden-fresh recipes below.
As always, Book and Author News are covered below.
In personal craft news, I finally…finally got the warp put on a loom to make a baby wrap for my new great-niece. I still need to sley the reed and weave the header. Then I can start the fun, relaxing part of actually weaving the blanket. I’m planning to conquer a couple of audiobooks while weaving.
So what’s new in your world this week? Want to chat about anything? Leave a comment below to get started.
Peace & Love
Amazon Prime Day is almost here. I’m putting together a couple of guides to help you find the best deals!
Friday Finds | 01 July 2022 | Book Finds
These are a few of the books I’ll be reading and reviewing soon. Have you read them, would you like to?
My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey
An all-new, spicy murder mystery from Tessa Bailey, New York Times bestselling author of It Happened One Summer…
It was supposed to be a relaxing vacation in sweet, sunny Cape Cod-just me and my beloved brother-but discovering a corpse in our rental house really throws a wrench into our tanning schedule. Now a rude, crude bounty hunter has arrived on the back of his motorcycle to catch the killer and refuses to believe I can be helpful, despite countless hours of true-crime podcast listening. Not to mention a fulfilling teaching career of wrangling second graders.

Branden’s Choice by John St. Clair
Within 15 days of the suicide of his 14-year-old son, Branden Edward Darce St.Clair, John had spoken to over 200 teens that have either contemplated suicide or have been self-harming due to depression and anxiety. Their main argument has been that no one will listen when they do speak out, or there is no one to speak out to due to the repercussions of such an action.
John St. Clair feels that there’s a serious problem in the current support systems; not only the schools but in homes as well. Within a week of Branden’s choice, he and his family were told by several teens his age that at some point from sixth grade to ninth grade their son had either stopped them or talked them out of suicide or self-harm. In this book, journal if you will, he tells this story, in detail, of what the choice of suicide will bring. The aftermath of such a choice.
Suicide is not an end; it is but a beginning for many left behind, to live the remainder of their lives in pain, doubt, and fear. Please reach out if you’re in that dark place; you are not alone!

Hattie Harmony: Worry Detective by Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett
Award-winning actress Elizabeth Olsen and esteemed musician Robbie Arnett have created a fresh approach to wellness in a new series that shows children ways to manage anxiety. A perfect back-to-school read!
Meet Hattie Harmony, Worry Detective.
She’s always there to help her friends when they need her. And the first day of school can cause a lot of jitters—from speaking in front of the class to taking the bus. Hattie always finds the perfect tools to calm her friends’ bodies and minds. But when her own fears start to bubble up, can Hattie learn to overcome them herself?
