Friday Finds for 13 May 2022 | Author & Book News, Giveaways, Cookies, Paper Art, Reviews
Hello, my friends & welcome to the Friday Finds for 13 May 2022
Are you the suspicious sort? Do you do anything different on Friday the 13th? I don’t have any particular suspicions about the day, probably because my birthday is on the 13th of Aug so that’s always a happy day even if it falls on a Friday.
If you subscribe to the Friday Finds email list (form on the sidebar or bottom of the page), you get bonus material not found in this post. Plus I like to slip giveaways in there or sometimes I hide them here. Just like with Surprise Lilies, you never know when or where the gifts will pop up!
Have a great day and be sure to say hi in the comment section below.

The Author of the Week feature is back as long as there is interest. If you would like to be featured, simply leave me a comment below to let me know. This week’s winner is Joann Keder. I’ve only reviewed one of her books, The Story of Keilah, but I am intrigued by so many more. I can’t decide which to read next. Which title would you choose?

Hawley Harvey Crippen, an American doctor in London, 1910. Devoted to his wife, music-hall performer Belle Elmore. He said she left him to go to her lover in America.
If she did, why did she not send a single word to her host of friends? And why could they find no record of her taking a ship?
Then Dr. Crippen announces her death in California. But when police from New Scotland Yard came calling, he changed his story: “So far as I know, she did not die, but is still alive.” And then he fled, with his younger mistress dressed as a boy.
What did Sherlock Holmes and the police find in the tiny coal cellar at Crippen’s North London home? How was Crippen tracked down, in a 3,000-mile sea chase across the Atlantic to Canada? And why did Chief Inspector Walter Dew call it all “the crime of the century”?

A Letter From Your Teacher: On the Last Day of School by Shannon Olsen
From the author and illustrator of Our Class is a Family, this touching picture book expresses a teacher’s sentiments and well wishes on the last day of school. Serving as a follow-up to the letter in A Letter From Your Teacher: On the First Day of School, it’s a read-aloud for teachers to bid a special farewell to their students at the end of the school year.
Through a letter written from the teacher’s point of view, the class is invited to reflect back on memories made, connections formed, and challenges met. The letter expresses how proud their teacher is of them, and how much they will be missed. Students will also leave on that last day knowing that their teacher is cheering them on for all of the exciting things to come in the future.
There is a blank space on the last page for teachers to sign their own name so that students know that the letter in the book is coming straight from them. With its sincere message and inclusive illustrations, A Letter From Your Teacher: On the Last Day of School is a valuable addition to any elementary school teacher’s classroom library.

If you buy a Kindle book on Amazon you can usually add the Whispersync option for just a bit more money so you can pop back & forth between reading and listening.

Thanks for the info regarding 2022 BBNYA. I was unaware of such a contest. I think I’ll check it out!
You should Gary. You would be a great fit. I think book entries close the end of the month? Maybe? I know panelist entries closed last weekend.
What a lovely idea, Gina. I was looking for a ThrowbackThursday since you commented on my page but I see you really meant you’d have to start doing that.
But this is also great. Thanks for that.
And no, I am not superstituous. Not at all. I will walk under a ladder on Friday the 13th even if a black cat has crossed my way and not think any different.
Have a good week.
Thanks for visiting my Jane Austen TBT.
Thanks for visiting, Marianne. I loved your TBT.
I forgot to say what book has been on my TBR the longest. I’ve been wanting to read 1984 for a long time and I finally checked it out of the library and I’m reading it now.
I’m not really superstitious but I find it interesting when the 13th falls on a Friday.
I don’t really have much going on other than we’re in the home stretch of finishing homeschool for the year and we’re anxious for it to be over.
My girls are busy working on their YouTube channels. Janelle (author of Moon-Force 1) is hoping to meet some subscriber goals with some specials airing after she meets those goals. So maybe that is some news. She just changed her channel name to Moon Lily and here is the link to it. She does her own drawing and animations. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC13PP8ed3BH0ha8_5-IXHcw
Thanks and have a great weekend!
Thank you for sharing all of these incredible “finds” and thank you for the review and mention! I think you are wonderful, and look forward to seeing your blog every week!
Thanks for being a loyal reader, Eve. I appreciate you so much. You are always here with an encouraging comment. You are pretty special yourself!
