Friday Finds for 29 July 2022 | Author News, New Releases, Delicious Recipes, & more
Hello, my friends & welcome to the 29 July 2022 Friday Finds!
I am in full celebration with my grandkids this week. I absolutely love having them all here, even if the floor is covered in cookie crumbs, berry juice, and tiny green army men keep attacking my feet with their bayonets when I walk through the playroom. Life doesn’t get much better than grandchild hugs!
Today’s post may be a bit scattered since I am not exactly focused. Is it wrong to blame the family when the same thing happens when I’m here alone? 😉
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this week’s post and be sure you leave a comment below about the finds.
Peace & Love

These are a few of the books that caught my eye this week. Have you read them, would you like to?
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
Spanning thirty years, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Venice Beach, California, and lands in between and far beyond, Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is a dazzling and intricately imagined novel that examines the multifarious nature of identity, disability, failure, the redemptive possibilities in play, and above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love. Yes, it is a love story, but it is not one you have read before.

Buddy’s New Buddy by Christina Geist
The newest picture book in the New York Times bestselling Buddy series is about being yourself through and through while going back to school and trying to make new buddies!
After Buddy’s best friend moves away, he doesn’t know what to do: Who will he high-five at school? Who will he play robo chargers with at lunch? Who will be his field trip partner?
Buddy feels he has nothing in common with anyone… Until a new student shows up who might just be a buddy in the making! And best of all: Buddy can be completely himself with her.
This third book in New York Times bestselling author Christina Geist’s heartwarming and humorous series explores evergreen social-emotional themes like authenticity and friendship-building–right in time for back-to-school season.

Eight ordinary people. One extraordinary choice.
It seems like any other day. You wake up, pour a cup of coffee, and head out.
But today, when you open your front door, waiting for you is a small wooden box. This box holds your fate inside: the answer to the exact number of years you will live.
From suburban doorsteps to desert tents, every person on every continent receives the same box. In an instant, the world is thrust into a collective frenzy. Where did these boxes come from? What do they mean? Is there truth to what they promise?
As society comes together and pulls apart, everyone faces the same shocking choice: Do they wish to know how long they’ll live? And if so, what will they do with that knowledge?
The Measure charts the dawn of this new world through an unforgettable cast of characters whose decisions and fates interweave with one another: best friends whose dreams are forever entwined, pen pals finding refuge in the unknown, a couple who thought they didn’t have to rush, a doctor who cannot save himself, and a politician whose box becomes the powder keg that ultimately changes everything.
Enchanting and deeply uplifting, The Measure is a sweeping, ambitious, and invigorating story about family, friendship, hope, and destiny that encourages us to live life to the fullest.

Oooh, The Measure sounds really good! That recipe looks delicious, too. Yum!
Thanks, Sammie! I thought The Measure was worth a mention. I can’t wait to read it.
Enjoy your grandkids, Gina!
Hi Gina,
Thanks so much for including my news! The book is coming along very well!
I tried to leave a comment earlier today but it didn’t go through so I’ll repost in hopes it will go through.
The Underground Toy Society has a game now! I made a board game and listed it on Teachers Pay Teachers. It’s a fun math game that can also help with fine motor skills.
Hey Jessica, you are branching out so much. I love it!
Wow! This week really packs a punch! That romantic book about Tomorrow sounds fascinating and so does The Measure but my mind is dazzled by the frito salad and the peach bars! All I can say is, Gina you’re a temptress! 🙂
Time with the grandkids … such a treat!! Enjoy to the fullest!
