Friday Finds July 30, 2021 – Books
The Invisible String by Patrice Karst
With over half a million copies sold, this accessible, bestselling picture book phenomenon about the unbreakable connections between loved ones has healed a generation of readers–children and adults alike–and has been updated with new illustrations and an afterword from the author. Also available: Spanish edition (El Hilo invisible) and a companion workbook (The Invisible String Workbook).
Parents, educators, therapists, and social workers alike have declared The Invisible String the perfect tool for coping with all kinds of separation anxiety, loss, and grief. In this relatable and reassuring contemporary classic, a mother tells her two children that they’re all connected by an invisible string. “That’s impossible!” the children insist, but still they want to know more: “What kind of string?” The answer is the simple truth that binds us all: An Invisible String made of love. Even though you can’t see it with your eyes, you can feel it deep in your heart and know that you are always connected to the ones you love.

Cromby’s Axiom by Gary Kirchner
Before we were all connected, before we were The Hive, there was individualism, privacy, ‘personal space’ . . . so quaint, so unnecessary . . . so dangerous . . .
TOMMY PIERRE ANTIKAGAMAC, a star quarterback, is the most followed player in the world’s most popular sport: American football. While off-season training in the unpopulated European Fallowlands, he abruptly finds himself detached from the Hive. Agonizingly alone in his head for the first time in his life, he panics, becomes hopelessly lost, and then is captured by a fringe group of anti-Hive saboteurs. The Freemen, as they call themselves, have concocted an audacious plan to “cataclysmically disrupt the brain of the Hive,” and Tommy may just be the key they need to make it successful.

What I enjoyed reading this week (besides books, of course).
I fell into a research rabbit hole while looking up info on the differences between the Victorian Era and the Regency Era. I spent a lot of time on various websites and Wikipedia throughout the week.
Related to the above research, I found this cute meme book tag on Shelves of Starlight.
Friday Finds July 30, 2021 – Recipes
Homemade Sun-Dried Tomatoes from WholeNewMom.com
I’ve also been researching sun-dried tomatoes recently. We always end up with an overabundance of tomatoes and I would like to add something new to the late summer canning. The two of us can only eat so much salsa, pasta sauce, juice, and soups. These might be fun and healthy to add to recipes over the winter.

Peach Upside Down Cake from BubbaPie
If we can fend off the deer just a little longer we should have fresh peaches soon. If not, there are always orchards and farmer’s markets to pick up some delicious fresh peaches. This cake looks absolutely divine!

The Invisible String sounds like a book that I would love to have in my home library. I will have to head over to Amazon to get one, thanks for featuring this one, Gina.
You are welcome, Carla. It does sound good.
Hi Gina, thanks for the note about the IngramSpark self publishing lessons. I will save that and take some of those lessons!
I have so many authors on my list, I thought it might be useful.
The invisible string looks like a good book.
I liked the blog post about the red fence. It reminds me of Dr. Seuss books.
I thought the same things, Jessica.
My imagination ran wild when you mentioned fending off the deer. I thought poor Gina will have to explode a few gift boxes! Lovely post!
Haha. That does paint quite the odd picture!
