Little Rue Makes Stew by Dan Jilg
Little Rue Makes Stew is the first in a series of children’s books with the author’s three boys as an audience in mind. The series follows a young joey kangaroo, affectionately named Little Rue, as he grows up and experiences the world around him the same way many young children do—by playing and working with their parents, neighbors, and friends. In Little Rue Makes Stew, Little Rue, working alongside his mother, learns how to cook the family meal. Throughout the story, Little Rue washes his hands, fills the pot with water, adds vegetables, peels potatoes, and, most importantly, learns that the kitchen stove is dangerous and that it’s very important to be careful.
Displaced (TimeRift Book 1) by David Korson
Bea Cooper, a sixteen-year-old disc golf prodigy, has a lot to prove both on the course and off. But her real challenge begins when she inherits a bizarre device with unanticipated power. Finding herself unexpectedly transported to another place and time, she must rely on a stranger—a strong but aloof man named Durango—to help her get home. One question, however, lingers: Can she really trust a man whose motives seem to be self-centered at best? Making matters worse, unbeknownst to Bea there is an evil adversary that not only knows who she is but also wants to stop her from ever returning to her own time. It will take everything in her power for Bea to find a way back home.
With the perfect balance of intrigue, suspense, humor, and romance, Displaced is a time-travel adventure that you are sure to fall in love with!
