The Friday Finds November 4, 2022, are here with a new Author of the Week, Author News, Recipes, A Knitted Snood, and so much more!
Hello, my friend & welcome to the Friday Finds November 4, 2022, edition.
I’m still in Wisconsin…or I may at home by the time you read this. I’ve enjoyed a wonderful fall holiday with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons. Since everyone is gone all day, I accomplished a lot of reading and writing. Well. along with watching all the wildlife scrambling around the backyard. They have squirrels of every variety, deer, birds, a hunting hawk, and even a badger who showed up one evening. I am super jealous of their screened-in back porch. I need one of these! It’s the perfect spot to read and enjoy a beverage.
I’m putting on a big push now through January to get caught up on all reviews that are past due. If I owe you a review, please contact me again so I can make sure you are on the revised schedule. As part of this catch-up effort, I’m taking part in #NetGalleyNovember with several of my book blogging pals. You can follow our progress on Twitter by searching for the hashtag or clicking the link. I even wrote a post listing the books I plan to read. The link is also below in the blog roundup.
Do you work better with a support group, or are you a loner? Book Blogging is a solitary activity, so support groups are quite helpful to me.
I hope you enjoy this week’s post and be sure you leave a comment below voting for your favorite find of the week.
Peace & Love
Notes: I’m including Amazon purchase images at the bottom of the post. Every purchase made through my links helps to support this blog.

These are a few of the books that caught my eye this week. Have you read them? Would you like to?
Runaway Groomsman by Meghan Quinn
From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author, Meghan Quinn comes a heartfelt romantic comedy about new beginnings and finding the romanticized happily ever after in the most unlikely of places.
Hollywood screenwriter Sawyer Walsh knows a good love story when he sees it. But when it comes to real life romance, he’s a mess. That’s how he finds himself standing at the altar…as his ex-girlfriend ties the knot with his very famous best friend. The pressure, the resentment, the media coverage—it’s all too much—and before he knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s making a run for it, leaving a shocked congregation and flashing cameras in his wake.
Needing to lie low amid the media fallout, Sawyer lands in the charming town of Canoodle, California, where he crosses paths with Fallon Long, who runs the Canoodle Cove Cabins, a family-owned business and Sawyer’s new short-term residence. Overwhelmed with renovations and her long list of responsibilities, Fallon is struggling to make ends meet while attempting to bring the cabins back to their original glory. So when Sawyer arrives, she is grateful for the income, but immediately writes him off as just another vapid Hollywood hack, until he begins to prove her wrong at every turn.

Bright Winter Night by Alli Brydon
The forest calls, and creatures come:
big and small, one by one.
They sense there is a task to do
as night descends, replacing blue.
On one bright winter night, a group of woodland creatures emerges from the forest. Despite their differences, they start to build something together, using items found on the forest floor. What are they making? And how quickly can they build it? Something special is happening tonight, and soon the animals are off—in a race to catch a glimpse of one of nature’s most astounding wonders! With lyrical text and sparkling artwork, Bright Winter Night is a celebration of the joy and beauty of nature and the special gift of friendship and togetherness.

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry
“Hi, my name is Matthew, although you may know me by another name. My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead.”
So begins the riveting story of acclaimed actor Matthew Perry, taking us along on his journey from childhood ambition to fame to addiction and recovery in the aftermath of a life-threatening health scare. Before the frequent hospital visits and stints in rehab, there was five-year-old Matthew, who traveled from Montreal to Los Angeles, shuffling between his separated parents; fourteen-year-old Matthew, who was a nationally ranked tennis star in Canada; twenty-four-year-old Matthew, who nabbed a coveted role as a lead cast member on the talked-about pilot then called Friends Like Us. . . and so much more.
Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing is an unforgettable memoir that is both intimate and eye-opening―as well as a hand extended to anyone struggling with sobriety. Unflinchingly honest, moving, and uproariously funny, this is the book fans have been waiting for.

Knitting Pattern – Bug Hood/Balaclava
Knitting is back this week. I found a cute and simple pattern Inspired by vintage balaclavas, the Bug Hood is a versatile winter essential. A super warm snood, a cozy balaclava, and a functioning hood, all in one! The perfect layering accessory. People always say, “That pattern is so cute, but I don’t know how to knit.” There are so many easy ways to learn to knit. I taught myself from a book while making my first project, a 7-foot-long lace blanket. Or you can check on YouTube or Craftsy.
