Friday Finds Roundup | July 10, 2020 – Wow, how is it possibly Friday already? Does it feel like the weeks are just flying by to you too?
Friday Finds Roundup | July 10, 2020, | Books
The following are a few of the hundreds of books on my “To-Be-Read” list.
On the Occasion of a Wedding by Ollie Bowen
On the Occasion of a Wedding is a collection of poetry celebrating what it means to truly love another person. From the soulfully simple to the humorously erotic. From the deeply spiritual to the painfully profound.
Saint Justice (A Christopher Wren Thriller Book 1) by Mike Grist
Hundreds of human cages hidden in the desert—a small-town police department wiped out—one man with nothing to lose.
Rogue DELTA operator Christopher Wren pulls off I-70 after three weeks on the road and walks into a biker bar in Price, Utah. An arbitrary decision he’s about to regret.
My Baby The Spy: A Short & Sweet Spy Romance by Annie James
Handsome, womanizing, and dangerous, Alex has always known what he wants—a private jet and a quick exit. As a top agent for an underground network of spies with headquarters in New York—unknown even to the FBI and CIA—his generous pay can more than afford his luxurious and decadent lifestyle. Alex enjoys living on the edge and outracing death. The absolute last thing he suspects is that the newest international disaster might be a baby—his baby.
Breakfast at Bronzefield by Sophie Campbell
HMP Bronzefield, the UK’s largest women’s prison: notorious for bent screws and drugs:
But what’s the truth behind the headlines? Forced into signing an NDA when she arrived there on remand, former public schoolgirl Sophie risked extra time on her sentence by documenting her experiences of life inside. Backed up by recent research and statistics, Breakfast at Bronzefield offers a powerful glimpse into a world few see: riots; unethical medical prescribing; and prison barons – key figures behind prostitution and drug-smuggling. In a world where anything goes and being rehabilitated simply means saying ‘sorry’ right up until you’re released, how will Sophie cope on the outside, where she is expected to play by different rules? Will she succeed in creating the life she wants? Or, like most prisoners, will she end up back where she started?
In case you missed it on the blog this week!
Red Moon by Sein Ares
Don’t Fart in the Pool by Ben Jackson and Sam Lawrence
Knightmare Arcanist by Shami Stovall
Friday Finds Roundup | July 10, 2020 | Creative Projects
This Quarantine DIY Craft Kit from The Hobbyist Box caught my eye today. It comes in a soap or candle kit. Even the presentation of the package is pretty. How could you go wrong with this?
Macrame has come a long way from when I first tried it in, ahem, the 1970s. This DIY Macrame Plant Holder from Willow and Rosebud provides everything you need, except the plant. According to the reviews, the instructions are excellent.
Friday Finds Roundup | July 10, 2020 | Recipes
To my way of thinking, if you pair the following two recipes with a good, old-fashioned BLT, you ‘ll have the perfect summer dinner.
I love sweetcorn but have never been as fond of it on the grill because I want mine without char. I’ll be trying this super simple steamed sweetcorn on the grill recipe from GimmeSomeGrillin just as soon as our corn is ready!
It’s hot here. Really HOT! I want a dessert that is cold and refreshing. S’mores are always a hit, so let’s try Frozen S’mores from It’s Always Autumn this week. They look delicious, don’t they?
