Friday Finds Roundup | July 3, 2020 | Books
I have a sweet list of books for you this week that covers many genres. These books are all on the shorter side. So if you are looking for a quick read to start and finish over the weekend, one of these will be perfect! Let me know which one tickles your reading fancy.
RAINY SEASON: A Heartbreaker Noir Romance Novella by Kurt Brindley
With the heartbroken shards of a shattered past lodged deep within his soul, falling in love is the last thing a mysterious American expatriate in Tokyo is looking to do, especially with an alluring, ambitious jazz club singer shrouded in vague mysteries of her own… I read this book as an early release and loved it. Watch for my full review soon. I’m such a fan of Kurt Brindley’s writing. He has something for everyone. Noir Romance
BULLIED: A Modern Day Look at Middle School Bullying by Scott Langteau
Written by veteran Video Game Producer and bullying survivor Scott Langteau, “Bullied” is a modern-day inspired anti-bullying picture book that casts light on a route to self-acceptance and empowerment. Bullied follows the day-to-day struggles of 7 young targets of aggression along with their tormentors from adolescence to adulthood. Through the journey of this book, the reader discovers that accepting and staying true to oneself and examining one’s behavior and its motivations serve as powerful and empowering messages for both the bullied, and bully alike. For ages 8-12.
Don’t Fart In The Pool by Ben Jackson
A small mistake could potentially haunt you for years to come, and one little ‘slip’ could be what haunts Stan for the rest of his life! It may have started with an epic taco fiesta to end all taco fiestas but ended with the mother of all disasters for young Stanley. What should have been an uneventful swim at the local swimming pool quickly turned into a world-class environmental disaster! For ages 3-9
Refuge: A Mountain Ranch Novel by Willa J. Brand
Taylor is a mother on the run from an abusive husband, searching for a safe place for her and her young son. Convinced that her possessive spouse is hunting them, she is paranoid, exhausted, and virtually penniless. Finding herself stranded in rural Montana, she is taken in by a couple who help her not knowing her past, and she is able to find work on their ranch. She intends on staying only long enough to save the money needed to move on to a large city where she believes they will be safer. But as time passes friendships develop, as does a love interest. Romantic Fiction
Black Tip Island by Tim W. Jackson
Inadvertent embezzler Blake Calloway high-tails it to the Caribbean, a step ahead of the Feds, and desperate to restart life as an anonymous divemaster in a tropical paradise. On Blacktip Island, though, Blake quickly discovers “tropics” doesn’t mean “paradise,” and rookie boat hands stick out like a reef at low tide. Humorous Action Adventure Fiction
