Weekly Friday Finds | 07-19-2024| Books ~Author News ~ Recipes ~ Crafts ~ New Trivia Contest Question
Welcome to the Friday Finds for 07-19-2024.
Things are humming along while I get back into the swing of being home. I’m starting to see results from all the hard work my “gardener” put in this spring and early summer. Produce is making its way to the house. This week, I found a box of cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, onions, carrots, radishes, peaches, and blackberries in the kitchen! What recipes would you make with a fresh goodie box like this? Leave your recipes in the comments…please!
No Indie Author news was sent in for this week’s edition. So I substituted with a couple of fun blogs for you to visit.
Peace,
Gina

Our peaches are ready. We got to them this year before the deer, bugs, and birds! So, I have been deep-searching for new recipes to use. However, my favorite way may be to eat them fresh off the tree!
If you haven’t tried the combo of sweet, fresh peaches and salty bacon before, you’re in for a treat. Tart pickled onions add another layer, turning this into a flavor delight.

Grilled Pork Chops with Whole Pickled Peaches
Sweet pickled peaches are a true Southern classic—a way to preserve the iconic orbs long past when they’d go bad on a counter. Our quick-pickle method just takes a few minutes. A traditional way to serve them is with a grilled pork chop. Try it, and you’ll see why.

Weekly Friday Finds | 07-19-2024 | Trivia Time
This week’s trivia question is:
Which subgenre of mystery fiction, often set in a small, socially intimate community, involves an amateur sleuth who solves the crime with little to no graphic violence or sexual content?
Leave your answer in the comment section to be entered into this month’s trivia contest.
The answer to last week’s question:
Which fruit is often brought to picnics and is known for being seedless and easy to peel, making it a favorite for children?
Seedless grapes are perfect for picnics. They’re naturally sweet and pop in your mouth. Grapes have antioxidants like resveratrol that can help keep you healthy.
They contain a lot of moisture, which is good for staying hydrated, and nutrients like vitamins C and K and fiber, which together help you feel great.
Although, I must confess. I never peel grapes. My guess was Mandarin oranges because they are seedless and easy to peel.

I love fresh peaches. Ours aren’t ready in Essex County yet, but when they are, I will definitely be buying lots. I make peach crumble and eat them plain. I just had a drink when I was out this week called a Georgia Mule. It has peach schnapps, vodka, peaches and ginger beer. It was yummy. I am a huge fan of cozy mysteries, so that is my answer this week.
My husband works with the author of Boss Bandit. The company gives his books to all the kids at the company Christmas party every year.
What a small world! That’s a special treat for the kids and has to feel good for the author too.
I know my son looks forward to it!
Thanks for shouting out our blog collab! 📚🙌💯😍
