The Ghosts of Culloden Moor are calling you. They need to have their story told, and you don’t want to miss it.

Are you looking for a long (very long) series of books to entertain you? Do you love a good Highlander story? The Ghosts of Culloden Moor collection by L.L. Muir and a few other remarkable authors is just the series for you.

the ghosts of culloden moor collection review

The series follows the stories of 79 ghosts stranded for centuries upon Culloden Moor after giving their all to fight for Bonnie Prince Charlie and most importantly for their beloved Scotland. They arose the morning after the battle to realize they were destined to spend eternity walking the bloody moor where they lost their lives.

Jump 300 years into the future and mysteries are stirring on the moor. These bonnie warriors, young and old, are slowly being sent to fulfill their destinies by the wee Muir witch Soncerae.

These rough, braw men of mine…
‘Tis more than just pride and injustice that keeps them tethered to the moor. But pride is what I’ll use to get them to go on. Ye see I’ve known for a long while I’ll know no peace until they’ve found theirs. ~Soncerae Muir.”

The Culloden 79 have become so popular that they now have their own Facebook page and website. These are stand-alone books that you may read in any order but, I strongly suggest that you start with number 1 –

The Gathering by L.L. Muir.  Ghosts of Culloden Moor - Gathering

Please note this is an e-book series.

I am so in love with my Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscription. It has paid for itself many times over while I power through book series such as this.

It sets the stage and explains everything necessary to follow along. Soncerae has sent 40 of her lads on to their destiny with the lasses that could finally free them. A book series this long could have become monotonous with following the same general storyline. However, it’s anything but dull. Each warrior has his own story, history, and to be honest, the baggage they have been carrying with them these past 300 years. It is quite entertaining to see how they accomplish their quest and move on to a happily ever after.

Each story is short enough to be finished quickly yet fast-paced to keep your attention.

The series is at 45 as of this writing.

Like so many of our favorite Highlander characters, they are not generally long on patience. They can be quite demanding about getting their story written. With so many stories to be told, as well as the other series and commitments L.L. Muir has, it made sense to bring in a few like-minded writers to help with the storytelling. This link will take you to the webpage of the Storytellers. I promise they are up to the task of telling the stories of the 79.

I have enjoyed every book in this series. Some I fell in love with, some I almost consider friends, many I wonder how their life is going now. What more can you ask for in a series than for the characters to feel like a part of your life?

I hope you fall in love with the 79 Ghosts of Culloden Moor and wee Soncerae Muir.

Look for more reviews of the delightful but exasperating Muir witches soon.

Happy reading!

Gina

  1. Gina’s review has peaked my curiosity for this series of books. I’m not much for ghosts but I may have to check out THE GHOSTS OF CULLODEN MOOR COLLECTION.
