Gina’s Friday Finds | December 18 – 2020
Welcome back, my friends. So good of you to stop by today. I’m solidly in holiday prep mode around here. I usually take a trip to the beach for a couple of weeks from the end of November through the first part of December. You would think with staying home this year, I would be ahead of the game. Nope, that’s evidently not the way I roll.
Last year, due to an emergency trip, I didn’t even decorate. It just didn’t feel like the holidays, so this year I’m making sure we do the normal things. I don’t decorate to the extent I did when the girls lived at home, but I want to have a tree and put up the decorations that warm my heart and rekindle fond memories.
Do you decorate your house for the winter holidays or to chase away winter blahs? What is your favorite winter tradition?
I could chat all day about this so let’s move on to the Friday Finds.

The Answer Is . . . Reflections on My Life by Alex Trebek
Longtime Jeopardy! host and television icon Alex Trebek reflects on his life and career.
Since debuting as the host of Jeopardy! in 1984, Alex Trebek has been something like a family member to millions of television viewers, bringing entertainment and education into their homes five nights a week. Last year, he made the stunning announcement that he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. What followed was an incredible outpouring of love and kindness. Social media was flooded with messages of support, and the Jeopardy! studio received boxes of cards and letters offering guidance, encouragement, and prayers.
As a long time Jeopardy fan, this book is definitely on my Christmas list. I bet you know someone who would love it.
The Answer Is . . .: Reflec...Shop on AmazonSaving Ruby King by Catherine Adel West
“Forever and to the end. That’s what they say instead of I love you.”
When Ruby King’s mother is found murdered in their home in Chicago’s South Side, the police dismiss it as another act of violence in a Black neighborhood. But for Ruby, it’s a devastating loss that leaves her on her own with her violent father. While she receives many condolences, her best friend, Layla, is the only one who understands how this puts Ruby in jeopardy.
An unforgettable debut novel, Saving Ruby King is a powerful testament that history doesn’t determine the present and the bonds of friendship can forever shape the future.
A #1 best-seller available in digital, paperback, hardcover, and audiobook!

I never really saw Jeopardy but it was always clear how loved and respected Alex Trebek was. Great suggestions. And what fantastic examples of cranberry.
