My thoughts on If I Had Ten Dollars by Craig T. Feigh
Craig Feigh writes the most delightful children’s stories and If I Had Ten Dollars is no exception. This tale entertains the reader in so many ways.
First, the story itself covers all the many ways a child can earn their own spending money. Next, we learn various fun ways that money could be spent. There are hidden dollar signs on every page, as well as a cute little ladybug to spot throughout the story. There is even a coloring page at the back of the book. Personally, I would photocopy it so the kids could color it over and over.
And as always, Mr. Feigh includes a moral lesson that is relevant to little ones and adults. My take-away from this story is teaching kids to earn money, not expect it to be given. You can speak to kids about prioritizing their wants and how sometimes the greatest happiness comes from making another person happy. These lessons are vital to everyone.
Patrick Carlson’s illustrations are wonderfully bright, vivid, eye-catching, and certainly enhance the story.
This short little children’s tale packs a big punch. I encourage everyone to grab a copy today. You won’t be sorry.
