What college girl doesn't dream of meeting Mr. Darcy? Lizzie was certainly no exception. But when Darcy Fitzwilliam comes into her life, her idea of romance spirals out of control.
Dorm life turns into an emotional rollercoaster of elation and heartbreak, as one ideal hero after another delivers twists and turns and unpleasant surprises.
Pulled from one disaster to the next, Lizzie refuses to let the tensions between classwork, parents, and everyone’s expectations – including her own – break her heart. Even if her one burning question becomes,
“How could my hero be so wrong?”

Excerpt from Jane Austen Lied to Me
Feb 7
This afternoon I got further confirmation that I’ve been seeing an awful lot of Michael. I was wandering back to the apartment, when Lon hailed me from one of the couches inside the lobby doors.
“I have a message for you from your boyfriend,” he said, kind of stiffly.
I looked at him stupidly for a moment. “My what?”
“Your boyfriend was here. He said his phone was dead, so he couldn’t call or text you to tell you that he can’t stick around for dinner tonight. He has a late meeting with a new client and he had to rush back to the office.”
I was still having trouble with the boyfriend thing. “Wait – do you mean Michael?”
“If that’s the guy you’ve been seeing the last couple of months,” Lon said with a shrug. “The one you’re always having dinner with.”
“He’s not my boyfriend,” I protested. “He’s an old friend of the family. We grew up together.”
Lon’s head was back at his computer screen. “Boyfriend, friend. The guy who kisses you goodnight all the time after he takes you out for dinner. He’s not coming tonight. I’ve delivered my message, that’s all I’ve got.”
Right then Allie walked up. “Hey, Lizzie! Waiting for Michael?”
“No, he’s not coming tonight.” I headed to the elevator with her.
“That’s a shame. I know how much you enjoy having dinner with him, even if he does aggravate you a lot.”
“Yeah. It’s kind of a love-hate relationship,” I agreed.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must-read.
In this case, it is a must-listen!
I have been very lucky to get the talented Kristyna Zaharek to read Jane Austen Lied to Me.
While the word readers most often use in their reviews of this book is the word “fun,” I think that Kristyna’s interpretation of the character of Lizzy brings a lot of extra insight to the story.
This book is meant to be a fun, amusing tale about a college girl and Jane Austen fan. The book feels more like a lighthearted satire and romantic comedy when you sit down and read it. But it develops much richer depths feeling when it is listened to, and it becomes more of a growing up/coming of age story.
Kristyna has a way of making the funny parts funnier, the frustrating parts more maddening, the problems seem more insurmountable and harder to solve. My favorite part is the very large number of ways she finds to express lust. Having the hots for the cute guy in Spanish class is somehow extremely different from having a crush on her college professor.
I have no idea how she manages it, but there is a world of difference between listening to Lizzy inside my own head when I wrote it, or when I read it now, versus listening to Kristyna read the story. She brings Lizzy to life with a rich variety of moods and feelings, she brings a special kind of honesty to the pains and joys involved in figuring out who you want to be when you grow up.

This looks like an awesome read.
