My thoughts on Janie’s Hope

About S.R. Fabrico
S.R. Fabrico was born a raised a Yankee who loves NY-style pizza and Philly cheesesteaks. She was introduced to the amazing world of Southern BBQ after moving to Tennessee where she lives with her husband and two children. She considers her family her main priority, everything she does is for them.
She attended college in the ’90s and received her degree in mathematics with a minor in secondary education, she went on to coach cheerleading and dance for 20 years winning a World Championship.
She loves anything and everything creative, so writing has always been a hobby. When she isn’t writing, she likes to wife hard, mom hard, paint, read good books and watch good movies.
Writing THE SECRETS WE CONCEAL has been an incredible journey. Writing through paramount sadness recalling moments from the past was challenging, but also immensely gratifying. I am who I am today partly because of my life’s experiences, all of them.
I believe a glass half full mentality is what keeps me going, I make a personal choice to find the good in all things each day and appreciate the gifts that each person in my life has to offer.
My hope is that this book will shed light on an uncomfortable topic and allow others to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for choosing to read THE SECRETS WE CONCEAL.

Guest Post from the author of Janie’s Hope
I wasn’t sure that I was going to finish Janie’s Hope, the third and final book in the Southport Series. Writing a trilogy is difficult. I wanted to give my readers an ending they’d love and my characters an ending they deserved. Self-induced pressure piled up day after day, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was my head, my heart, and body.
Randomly, I woke up one day with a brutal headache and tremendous pain in my neck. The next day I developed excruciating numbness and tingling in my fingers, arms, and legs. The pain was so intense I couldn’t even type. After months of every test under the sun without any answers, I developed extreme anxiety. In November 2023 I was afraid to leave my house. My head wasn’t in a good place, my body was in daily pain which made it difficult to do much of anything, and my heart ached for normalcy.
It was difficult to sit down but when I attempted to write at my desk I couldn’t focus. Every day was a challenge. Eventually I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which was bittersweet. On the one hand I was relieved to have a diagnosis and a plan for treatment. On the other hand, I was sad to learn that I had a lifelong debilitating disease.
After receiving wonderful care and several months of hard work, I was able to feel somewhat normal again and finally finished Janie’s Hope. I am grateful for incredible family and friends who supported me through the process. I am excited to have completed the Southport Series trilogy, but I will miss the Southport characters who seem like real people to me. Ha!
I’m grateful to be back to writing. Currently, I’m working on two different projects. First, The Pioneers of All Star, a non-fiction book about the history of All Star cheerleading. Second, Ten Thousand Steps, where Tom and Laura from The Secrets We Conceal will return for another fiction based on a true story as readers learn about Laura’s journey with MS.
