My thoughts on Looking for a Leprechaun
Looking for a Leprechaun is a delightful and inspiring story for children of all ages. The colorful, detailed, and captivating illustrations draw the reader into the magical world of Rich and his fairy friend. The story is also very relatable, exploring the common themes of self-esteem, belonging, and confidence.
Rich is a character that many children can identify with, as he struggles with feeling different and insecure. His journey teaches him valuable lessons about himself, his potential, and the importance of positive thinking and perseverance. The book also celebrates diversity and inclusion as Rich learns to appreciate his own uniqueness and the beauty of the world around him.
Looking for a Leprechaun is a charming and uplifting book that will entertain and inspire young readers. It is a great choice for parents, teachers, and librarians who want to encourage children to embrace their individuality and follow their dreams.
Looking for a Leprechaun by Richard Lopez is suitable for children of all ages. However, it is more appropriate for preschoolers and early elementary students, as the book has vivid illustrations, simple text, and educational extension activities. The book also explores the themes of self-esteem, belonging, and confidence, which are important to emphasize in young children. Therefore, I recommend this book to children between 3 and 8 years old.

Guest Post from Richard Lopez, author of Looking for a Leprechaun
What are you reading now?
The book I’m reading now and about halfway through it is The Creative Act: A way of Being, by Rick Rubin. If your’e not familiar with Rick Rubin, he’s an American record producer. He is a co -founder along with Russell Simmons of Def Jam recording. He has worked with many different artists from various genres of music— from hip hop, rock, heavy metal, and country. He also has been practicing meditation since he was a teenager.
The Creative Act: A Way of Being is Rubin’s thoughts on the creative process. He is reflecting on what he has seen and noticed from his experiences. Some pages are just a few lines and other reflections are multiple pages. I think it’s a very creative book and can resonate with pretty much anyone especially writers, artists, and musicians.
