"A woman will save humanity bringing peace from the blue light. Two women will fight so that one will die. For only in the death of life, as one knows it, can one be in the light."
Or so says the millennia old matriarchal legend that will pit Zara Khatum, proclaimed Kurdish prophetess, against Rachel Capsali, famed Israeli archeologist, her foil and the woman who steals away her love, Peter Gollinger, the brilliant man who holds the key to their truth.
One of sci-fi suspense's most unforgettable love triangle leads to two questions: Who will sacrifice their life? Who will save us all from apocalyptic doom?
The Matriarch Messiah is an epic gripping science fiction suspense with the heartbeat of a romance and a dash of the mystical that will plunge you deeper into a world of conspiracies, forbidden love, and the visionary battle for humanity's destiny. From San Francisco to Kurdistan, China, Jerusalem, to the high-stakes climax in modern day Crimea.
"The intricate web of conspiracies, betrayals, and unexpected alliances in The Matriarch Messiah makes for an exhilarating ride. The love triangle adds emotional stakes to an already intense plot, making you question fate, free will, and the true cost of salvation. A brilliant sci-fi thriller that lingers in your mind long after the final page." - Goodreads review

Senior Reviewer, Self-Publishing Review ★★★★★
"A spectacular second installment of the Mystery of the Matriarchs saga. Unapologetically highlighting the true power of women as the bringers and protectors of life, Trencavel delivers a stunning blow to patriarchal norms across a broad array of cultures and literary traditions. Trencavel's writing is both clear and eccentric, making the reading experience an engaging pleasure for logophiles and lay readers alike. The author's ability to summon stark and compelling landscapes gives the prose an electric and almost sacred quality, which offers a searing and empowering critique of the patriarchal social order through a dramatically original work of science fiction."

Excerpt from The Matriarch Messiah
Another dewdrop hits her nose. But this time, she does not wipe it off as it mingles with the drops from her eyes while she searches inside for the strength to remember that which remains unresolved in her life, with her family, with her destiny. Is he really the one? Should she reveal what should only be revealed to the one man who will bring her to her destiny?
A purse of her lips and she finally says, “Sara, my great-grandmother, she was our link to the wisdom of generations of spiritually inspired women before her.”
Still facing away from Peter, she says, “Sara liked you. She saw something in you when she first met you at that first dinner at her ancestral house when we were staging for our mission to retrieve the object.”
Turning back to him, she says, “Sara said to my grandmother Roza, her daughter, that you harbor the same light her husband, a Sufi imam, my great-grandfather, had within him when they first met.”
She points to his eyes. Blue ones which naturally go with his once-blond and now-sandy-brown hair. “Sara said the light is blue. The light we should seek is blue. The world thinks the light is white. But the one we seek, we yearn for, we die for, is blue. She so feared dying before she could find the blue light. For in the blue light, we shall return”, she said.
Peter, who knows so much trivia because he is an editor of all sorts of topics, papers, and books, is speechless until he finally mutters, “Blue? Where did that come from? I’m not getting the connection to the mystery of the ancient matriarch we solved.”
“As you had with your grandfather, your pappy, who entrusted you with an ancient family oral tradition, passed from mouth to mouth, from generation to generation, as far back in time as that temple, the world’s oldest temple, which our follies led to be destroyed, so there is a line of similar wisdom passed down in my family line. But through the women. Mother to daughter and to granddaughter.”

Guest Post by the Author of The Matriarch Messiah
Did you have a minor character who insisted on playing a larger role in the story? If so, please tell us about it. If not, please tell me how you get the characters to behave in your head.
I must be a totally permissive parent. My books have these ensemble casts. Minor characters appear and try to take over the entire house. Start their own party. Me and my editors end up having to clean house months later.
The main protagonist in The Matriarch Matrix was initially cast as a secondary character. A local guide in Turkey taking the male protagonist, Peter Gollinger, and a Jesuit priest from the airport to the world’s oldest temple: Göbekli Tepe.
But beta readers called out Zara Khatum, a former Kurdish soldier with deep emotional wounds from years of war, the major star of the book. And as the book pivoted from a traditional patriarchal mythology to a matriarchal one, Zara took center stage. Good thing as the reviews praised her the depth of her character.
Then, in the second book in the series, The Matriarch Messiah, another secondary character decided she didn’t want a back seat and took over driving the bus. Rachel Capsali was meant to be only in a quarter, at most a third, of the book. But the developmental editor along with alpha readers all clamored “more, more, more”. And nearly forty thousand words later, Rachel has nearly equal billing with Zara. Even stealing Peter away from her.
Good thing too. Nearly all the early review praise the dynamics between the two. “One of the novel’s greatest strengths is its characters. Zara, a devout Kurdish woman, and Rachel, an Israeli Torah historian, are beautifully fleshed out. Their personal struggles, Zara’s internal battle with her past as a fighter and Rachel’s pressure to honor her lineage felt genuine and compelling.” – Literary Titan
The prequel in developmental editing has more behaved minor characters. One did step up early on playing a thematic role through the rest of the book: the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nicholaievna Romanova of Russia. The protagonist, Oksana, a young Krymchak peasant, Rachel’s great-great grandmother, is overwhelmed with the grandmotherly love and mentoring from a Romanov. The Grand Duchess’ words and wisdom echo throughout Oksana’s coming of age story.
