Realm Journey by Ben Schneider is an epic fantasy novel. Start with an evil king, add a noble knight & a female warrior with a grudge, and you have a winner.

No ship that sailed to Mount Korzoth has ever returned. While this worries King Felix’s people, his sole concern is a war caused by his own greed and malice. He is unaware his most revered knight, Sir Xandar, has conspired with the scientist, Pencerous—to end Felix’s reign. When a team from afar seize Pencerous’s most vital device, Xandar’s mission detours through a marauded nation and a kingdom afloat in the sky. After a clash with the latter’s queen, Xandar is hunted by her navy and the most feared “phantom” ship on the high seas. The vessel Xandar chartered finds nowhere to seek refuge—but Mount Korzoth. Often menaced by Lady Jia, the queen’s volatile emissary, Xandar embarks on an unplanned voyage. He uncovers the world’s most chilling secrets in an epic fight for survival.

Written for anyone who desires adventure and justice and believes life is always better when you treat others well, Realm Journey stresses action, humor, and science-based "magic." Author Ben Schneider developed the story for over twenty years, leading to an unpredictable, well-planned twist of an ending.

My thoughts on Realm Journey by Ben Schneider

Realm Journey by Ben Schneider cover image

Realm Journey by Ben Schneider is an epic fantasy novel with a little romance and a lot of action.

Xandar makes a fantastic hero. He kind, caring, misunderstood, and just arrogant enough to make you occasionally roll your eyes.

Jia has many of the same characteristics but maybe a little less kind to people who cross her path.

The world-building is incredible in this story, kingdoms in the sky, wormhole portals to other realms, ghost ships, witchcraft, knights, and more.

Then there is the magic, or is it science? I tend to believe it’s pure science & chemistry: either way, so much power in those well organized little vials.

I will admit I was a little slow to become involved in the story, but I believe that is on me, not the book. However, about a quarter of the way in, I was hooked. I devoured page after page. I caught myself holding my breath, cheering, raging, and even in tears a couple of times. Well done, Ben. I didn’t expect the tears.

I recommend Realm Journey to lovers of adventure, fantasy, action, sword & sorcery, and darn good story-telling.
