He recognised Orf when he heard in his mind: Turn to your left. You will find two chairs for you and Salena that you should find comfortable. We made them especially for visitors. They will help you move around.
Dylan stared at the chairs. ‘Why do we need chairs if we both possess the skills to translocate?’
Orf smiled at his pupil. There was still so much he needed to learn, he thought. To Dylan he sent: If you translocated everywhere you would use up too much energy, and you need all the energy you can generate to focus on what lies ahead.
Dylan showed his understanding with a quick nod. He looked around and found two most unusual chairs upholstered in bright violet. He sat down in one and indicated to Salena to do the same and explained that the Volks had chosen the chairs for them as their form of transport for their time in the Dome. It felt like sitting in a spa: all his muscles felt as if they were being massaged and he sensed some of his aches and pains fading away. He saw a similar look of pleasure flit across Salena’s face.
‘How do they move?’ Salena asked.
‘With your mind,’ responded Orf.
Dylan watched in fascination as Salena’s chair began to hover off the floor. She laughed at the look on his face. ‘Go on. You try.’
Dylan furrowed his brow and thought: Up. Like lightning he shot up ten, twenty, fifty metres into the air. He gasped as the cocoons came closer. Down! Down! He thought. He suddenly felt himself plummeting down to land safely beside Salena. She was laughing in earnest now and he felt himself turn red.
‘Don’t think so hard,’ she snorted and then stopped. ‘Sorry for laughing. It’s just that that was the most normal thing that has happened all day.’ She looked down and he felt sorry for her.
‘Do you know, Salena?’ he asked. She looked up. ‘I would have laughed too. Come on.’ He turned to Orf. ‘Where are we going, Orf?’

My Thoughts on Restoration of the Golden Orbs
Excellent world-building and enjoyable characters make this book entertaining for all ages, but I recommend it for middle-grade, young adults, and up. It is the second book in the Mind Power series. I have not read the first, but the author built in enough backstory to make me feel comfortable. However, I always recommend that books be read in order for the fullest enjoyment of the story.
Dylan is a relatable character for which readers will enjoy cheering. I believe the author is spot on in making subtle suggestions that we can all benefit from perseverance and determination to accomplish our goals.
The entire alien set-up is well-executed and should appeal to lovers of technology and superpowers. We can all use a dose of inspiration to overcome adversity.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

About Paul A. Mendel
Paul A Mendel was born in Stockport in the United Kingdom, spent four years in Wales and then moved to Sidcup, Kent. At aged 12 years he emigrated to New Zealand with his family where he was educated, graduating with honours in a master’s degree in History and English.
Paul taught for five years in New Zealand, largely concentrating on History, before moving to Perth, Western Australia, where he taught at a number of prestigious schools including: Wesley College, St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, All Saints’ College and is at present teaching at Willetton High School.
For most of his teaching life he has focused on English and for 33 years he was an examiner in ATAR English (University Entrance). Some of his interests include: metaphysics, dreams and the power of the mind.
Paul has used visualization and mind control in the teaching of his classes. He is concerned at the number of high school students who are not coping with the pressures of our rapidly changing society.
He addresses these issues in his novels believing that for every problem there is a solution, but to find it one needs to enter the stillness within. He has been a long-term deacon in Rosa Veritas, formerly the Independent Church of Australia. Paul is married with four children, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a dog and a cat.
