Review of The Billionaire Surprise series by Emma St. Clair

I quite surprised myself when I discovered a love of “billionaire romance novels” as it is not my typical genre. I found Emma St. Clair’s books through a Facebook group.

The series currently is at four books but I have a feeling there are more to come. Emma St. Clair writes in many genres, but this series is a sweet, clean romance which means you won’t find explicit sex scenes, over the top violence or offensive language. In her bio, she writes that she is a  “rabid reader and writer of clean romance. She loves sassy heroines and love stories that aren’t cheesy, served up with a side of wit.” The heroines in this series certainly live up to that statement.

When it comes to romantic fiction, I have never been upset with sex scenes as long as they aren’t too explicit and they work as an integral part of the plot. However, reading these clean romances is a breath of fresh air. The series is a well-written series, and the characters quickly become loved or hated as the case may be. My main criteria in most books are that they are not “cheesy” and the story flows well. If I struggle with the pace, characters, or plot I am more likely to abandon it. There are too many good books out there to read.

Emma St. Clair’s Billionaire Surprise series does NOT fall into that category. They are a joy to read!

  The Billionaire Love Match (Billionaire Surprise Book 1) – Emma St. Clair

Does real love stand a chance on a rigged reality show?

This clean and inspirational billionaire romance is a perfect read if you enjoy witty dialogue and colorful characters or consider shows like The Bachelor a guilty pleasure. 

Time away on a matchmaking reality show is just what Casey needs to escape her crazy ex-boyfriend. Colt makes a deal with his devil of a mother to star in her new reality show in order to gain his own dreams. As Casey & Colt develop a special bond, can they stand up to the obstacles thrown in their way?

My Amazon review:

The first book in a new clean romance series by Emma St. Clair is fantastic. It has everything you need: fun, laughs, drama, surprises & intrigue. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Billionaire Surprise series!

I loved Casey’s klutziness as well as Colt’s struggles to live his life in the spotlight and under his mother’s thumb. The peek behind the curtain of a reality dating show was entertaining. The story has all the usual suspects, ex-boyfriends, catty contestants, characters with “other” agendas. The story has surprises, drama, lots of humor, and so much more. You know Colt and Casey are going to find their Happily Ever After, but it was sure fun to watch them get there.

Jake is the big-city billionaire. Shelby is the small-town sweetheart. Opposites attract, but there’s one little problem: her home is the final land he needs for his new development.

When Jake travels to Lucky, Texas to finalize the details of his billion-dollar development, falling in love was not a part of the plan. But the feisty and beautiful Shelby has him questioning everything–especially when he realizes that her land is integral to the success of his project.

Emma St. Clair does it again! The Billionaire Land Baron pits big city against small town. Wealthy but dissatisfied Jake meets broke but determined Shelby and the sparks fly. Can they see beneath the surface and get past the misunderstandings, outside influences, and quit jumping to conclusions? How can you go wrong with an alligator named T-Ball, a delightful dog, a town that will stick up for their own, and well-written characters? You can’t….so read it today! I couldn’t put it down. It was well worth the loss of sleep!

I loved this sweet, clean romance novel. The potential is always hovering to slip into the stereotypical storyline of this genre. Emma St. Clair did a wonderful job of staying off that path & keeping the story moving in delightfully quirky ways. The main characters keep you pulling for them while the friends & family characters round out the storyline. I recommend this book to all romance book fans.

My Amazon review:

The fourth in Emma St. Clair’s Billionaire Surprise series is one of her best. This modern retelling of the Cinderella fairytale is a must read for romance fans. I am so happy that Xander, whom we first met in The Billionaire Land Baron, finally gets his own book.

Xander is ruled by his private grief and shuts himself away from connecting with people. Cyndil is dealing with the death of her father and his unexpected betrayal as well as an evil stepmother & step-siblings. The journey of Xander and Cyndil to overcome the obstacles in their path, including hidden feelings, misunderstandings, and slight dishonesty, makes for a delightful book.

The Billionaire’s Masquerade Ball has all the components for a great book: villains you can despise, a lead couple that makes your heartache for them, and well thought out secondary characters. It’s hinted that there may be a book about Lucy & Wyatt in the future. I would love to see Judy get her own story as well.

I gave every book in this series a 5-star rating. I was mesmerized by the characters, the settings, the plotlines, and more so I can’t recommend enough that you give these books a read. As I said earlier, it was not a genre have read before and I am so impressed with them. These books are quick and fun to read so please don’t let preconceived notions about the genre to cause you to miss a great series of books. Since there are hints of more Billionaire Surprise book yet to come, I will be updating this post as appropriate.
