Tyler’s chest tightened and her heart pounded through her sweater. Pull yourself together. It was just a peck on the lips, remember. She held her palm against her eye to stop it from twitching, a tell that she was freaking out.
The house lights dimmed and the announcer introduced Cary to the sold-out arena. The crowd erupted in cheers for their hometown hero. Brandon was close enough to Winnipeg that people didn’t get offended when they said he was a local.
Cary strutted down the blue carpet toward center ice and Tyler bowed her head, stretching out her white Jets jersey. Great minds . . . They’d worn the same thing again. Maybe they had telepathy.
Not long after the anthem ended, Vegas stood in the doorway of their hospitality suite. His 6’6” frame took up a lot of space. People assumed that he was a biker because of his neck tattoos, ponytail, and black leather jacket, but Cary’s tour manager wouldn’t have been caught dead riding a motorcycle. He was the voice of reason and never did anything reckless.
Tyler waved at Vegas and he stepped aside, leaving her unshielded from Cary’s piercing gaze. Oh my god, he’s here. What was she going to do? Too bad there wasn’t a window to jump through.
Be cool.
She took a swig of beer as the string parts from Requiem for a Dream echoed in her head.
Be cooler.

My Thoughts on Rock Crush and Roll
What if the rock star you had a crush on in high school was into you? But it’s 15 years later, and you’re so over dating musicians. Or are you?
Tyler Robertson is a music manager. Cary Kingston is the biggest rock star in the world. She’s sworn off dating musicians, and he’s a confirmed bachelor. But when their working relationship turns into something more, she wonders if she’s falling for the rock star or the person. You can’t always get what you want, but sometimes you can.
Rock Roll and Crush is a slow-burn romance where the sparks of love ignite gradually, keeping you engaged and yearning for more. The novel pulls back the curtain on life behind the stage for rock stars and their love lives. Set uniquely in Canada, it offers a plethora of Canadian geographical references and language, adding a distinct flavor to the story and appealing to readers interested in Canadian culture.
Some Rockstar romances are relatively light on music. The author’s background in the music industry and the many song snippets clearly enhanced the tale for me.
The characters are well-developed and quirky, excelling at witty banter. There is some rough language, but it feels appropriate for the music industry setting. I’d rate this a two on the spicy chart—there’s nothing that feels gratuitous, and the sexual situations are definitely plot-driven.
I recommend Rock Roll and Crush to readers who enjoy contemporary rockstar romance with a bit of spice.
