Seed: An interdimensional Science Fiction Novel By Shelly Campbell

Formats: eBook, Paperback
Pages: 250
Glitching between dimensions wasn't supposed to be my life, but sometimes you have to dance with the darkness.
I should be dead. Shot twice through the chest. But the Embassy saved me because I’m a one-of-a-kind freak who blips to worlds they can’t reach. Now I’m their personal mule, raiding collapsing planets to fatten their coffers. Lucky me.
And things have gone from bad to worse. My old team is being held hostage, my family’s in danger, and the darkness hunts me across realities. My one shot to end this living hell? Take down the Embassy, save Charlie, and torch the whole rotten system. Simple, right? One misstep though, and we’re toast. Alien breach. Apocalypse. End scene.
If I fail, the darkness won’t stop until it swallows us whole.

Here’s a haunting glimpse into David’s fractured reality and emotional unraveling—just one of many moments that show Seed is more than just interdimensional thrills.
🌌 Sneak Peek from Seed
Heaviness blankets me. A childish part of me wanted to hang onto the idea that I was an instrumental part of saving the universe. More than that though, I’d hoped that Cory slipped me his wedding ring so he could save me.
For a single stupid moment, I thought this was about me. Why do I keep doing this? Falling for the idea that people care about me for who I am and not what I can do for them? The only people who loved me like that are my family, and I can’t ever reach them again without inadvertently siccing the darkness on them.
I take a deep, hollow breath before asking, “What do you want, Cory?”

Guest Post by Shelly Campbell, Author of the Dark Walker Series
Discuss the world you’ve created for the book.
Seed is the finale to the Dark Walker trilogy, so I really wanted to stick the landing. It’s hard to keep upping the ante in a series, but I wanted to expand David’s story as the series progressed. And, as a result, the world I was building expanded right along with it.
Gulf is a quiet coming-of-age horror mostly set at the cottage David’s family rents. It’s like a one-set play, except we’re peeking backstage and seeing some unsettling things, but there’s a lot of vagueness and mystery to the worlds David is exploring. Think of it like Narnia if it was a horror and had Stranger Things vibes. There are doors to other worlds, but it’s no fantasy on the other side.
In book 2, Breach, David’s world is blown wide open, and he’s thrown into another dimension entirely. Larger cast. More complicated set. The stakes are bigger too. He’s not just saving his family anymore. There are entire dimensions at stake. So, as a reader, expect it to feel a bit more horror sci-fi than book one. A bit of Dr. Who feels. Somewhat timey-wimey. Alternate worlds.
Seed though, it's the final act. It has to shake David down to his core. I make him face a foe on a cosmic scale. So, the set becomes universe-sized too. Now, I’m not smart enough to hold any firm beliefs on how our actual universe works, but we’re discovering new things about our own planet all the time, and both our lack of knowledge and the universe itself are vast and unending.
There certainly are dimensions outside of the ones humans can detect, because we are limited by the confines of our senses. Birds navigate using electromagnetic fields. Bees see ultraviolet light. Elephants sense vibration through their feet over long distances. Who knows what else is out there right in front of our faces that we can’t perceive because it's outside the realm of our senses? That’s the kind of worlds/dimensions/universes we’re exploring in Seed. How the fabrics of universes are tied together and how they all come apart.
Interesting thing though, the world (as huge as it is) isn’t the main focus of the Dark Walker series. I love putting realistic characters into unrealistic situations, but my writing is always deeply character-based and emotional. Seed’s setting might be on a grand scale, but I’m hoping it feels personal because, at its heart, it’s exploring humanity, family, connections, and how we hold onto all of those things, no matter how the world—or the universe—is flying apart around us.
I hope that comes across in Seed, and I’m excited to hear what readers think of it.
Thanks so much for having me as a guest and helping me share my writing with more readers. Really appreciate it!

Final Thoughts
While this isn’t a full review, I’m genuinely intrigued by the premise of Seed. A glitching dimension-hopper hunted by cosmic darkness? Yes, please. The emotional intensity paired with horror and sci-fi elements feels right up my alley, and I love a story that blends big stakes with deeply personal themes. I can’t wait to go back and start this trilogy from the beginning.
