Excerpt from The Bean Sidhe
She sat there studying her surroundings. Nothing in the apartment gave her a clue as to who this man was. Was he being paid to follow Bonas? He sure as hell wasn’t a cop. Was he nothing more than some freak that got his kicks by annoying dangerous people until he got his ass kicked?
She caught herself shaking.
Her gaze fell upon the bottle sitting on the coffee table directly in front of her. The label declared it to be something called cinnamon whiskey. The bottle was half full. She unscrewed the top, and took a long pull. The fire went directly to her sphincter. Recovery was slow. She couldn’t believe the little man presently busy praying in the bathroom couldn’t hear her gasping for air.
She replaced the cap and studied the bottle’s label. What the hell is cinnamon whiskey anyway? Whoever this little prick is, he is definitely tougher than he looks.
Movement in the bathroom shook her out of her revelry. She would have to unravel the mysteries of the distilling business another day.
She quickly tiptoed to the front door, throwing the apartment keys into a glass ashtray sitting on the hall table as she passed. She quietly closed the door. She stood in the hall for a short time more. She had no idea what had just happened or what it meant. She guessed that she was back to square one, deal with the Lou problem first, and try to figure out what this little dope was up to later.

My thoughts on The Bean Sidhe
The Bean Sidhe by Ernest L. Canning is a unique story. It’s dark, humorous, a bit morbid, and entertaining.
The book is written in a unique format with no chapters, just dividers between vignettes. I knew this going in and was skeptical, but I immensely enjoyed the style. I wouldn’t want it for every book, but it worked well in this one.
Poor Percy is lost when his life takes an unexpected turn from what he had planned and worked for his entire career. He was supposed to retire first, then his wife, then they would move South. Instead, his wife accepted a promotion and left him.
So he does what any rational person would do. He decides to kill a man. Right? Even if the scumbag deserves everything he gets, it’s a radical retirement plan! Who even thinks that way?
Nothing works out quite the way Percy plans, although the man does end up dead. Soon Percy finds himself drawn into all types of troublesome situations leading to him over-imbibing in cinnamon whiskey and visiting all sorts of people and places ordinary folks avoid.
I can’t say much more about the plot without indulging in spoilers. However, I doubt you will be bored reading this tale. It’s a life and death riot of adventure, with some thought-provoking situations.
The Bean Sidhe (Banshee) will make you laugh, slightly horrify you, and most of all, make you think.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
