📜 Excerpt from The Boys Are Back in Town
Before you dive in, here’s a taste of the tension and passion waiting in The Boys Are Back in Town (Forever Rock #1) by Tanith Davenport. In this scene, Avril comes face-to-face with her ex, Levi Eshton-Gold—the young rockstar whose music once set her heart on fire. But when he returns home from tour, everything has changed, and Avril quickly realizes their reunion won’t be simple.
It wasn’t until they were finishing dessert that they heard a knock on the door.
“I’ll get that.” Ty stood and moved towards the doorway. “He must have lost his key.”
Lyra and Elspeth both stood and followed him, Avril trailing behind them uncertainly. This had the potential to be very awkward.
Ty unlocked the door, and Levi stepped in, dragging his wheeled suitcase behind him. His eyes immediately locked onto Avril, a look of surprise crossing his face. Avril stared back at him, waiting to see if he would speak first.
She knew she looked different from when he had last seen her. Her blonde hair was now cut short and highlighted; she was wearing contacts instead of glasses, so her green eyes were brighter, more visible. She had had her ears pierced a second time, dangly earrings brushing the Astral Shudder tattoo on her shoulder. And she had stopped getting spray tans, so her skin was back to its natural alabaster shade.
Levi looked thinner than before, but his brown hair was still long, held back by a bandana that made him look like a young Axl Rose. He was wearing eyeliner, something he had rarely done in the past, but it brought out his brown eyes, which were fixed intensely on hers. And he was wearing leather trousers and a leather jacket over a t-shirt—he had always said he wanted a new leather jacket, and here it was.
She had always loved his leather trousers. The way they hugged his perfect ass as he moved on stage, the delicious scent they had given his skin. She could remember the way his hair had swayed as he sang, the way the sweat glistened on his taut muscles.
She remembered everything.
Elspeth stepped forward and pulled Levi into a hug, breaking the tension. Avril felt her shoulders relax. Maybe this would be straightforward after all.
“Darling. We’re so glad you’re finally home. You must be exhausted.”
Levi nodded silently, and Ty moved forward to take the case from him.
“We’ve saved you some dinner. Sit down, and you can tell us everything.”
“No,” Levi answered haltingly. “I can’t.”
Something in Avril’s gut twisted painfully.
Levi’s voice, once rich and throaty, was now a rasp.
This is it. This is why they stopped the tour.
Levi’s perfect rock voice had been destroyed.

✨ My Thoughts on The Boys Are Back in Town ✨
Now that you’ve had a glimpse of the chemistry and tension between Avril and Levi, it’s time for my thoughts on The Boys Are Back in Town by Tanith Davenport. This steamy rockstar romance kicks off the Forever Rock series with passion, drama, and second chances that will keep you turning the pages.
Tanith Davenport turns up the heat in The Boys Are Back in Town, the first book in the Forever Rock series. This story drops readers into the world of rising fame, raw passion, and the messy, complicated second chances that come when love refuses to fade away.
I really enjoyed how the romance balances chemistry with vulnerability. The spark between Avril and Levi is undeniable—equal parts tender and fiery—but what gives the story its heart is the way both characters carry their scars. Music is more than just a backdrop here; it’s woven into their identities, shaping their struggles and their connection.
The writing has a fast, engaging rhythm, just like the rock-and-roll world it portrays. You’ll find plenty of steam, yes, but also emotional beats that ask whether love can survive fame, pressure, and the ghosts of the past. For me, that’s what makes this more than just a rockstar romance—it’s about rediscovery, resilience, and taking chances when the stage lights go dark.
If you enjoy steamy contemporary romances with a rock edge and the promise of second chances, this one will hit the right notes.
“A spark remains, but secrets and fame could cost them their future.”
📝 Final Thoughts
The Boys Are Back in Town by Tanith Davenport hits all the right notes for fans of steamy rockstar romances. It’s passionate, fast-paced, and layered with just enough drama to keep the pages flying. What makes this story shine is how it balances sizzling chemistry with real vulnerability—characters who are flawed, strong, and undeniably human. As the opener to the Forever Rock series, it promises even more backstage intrigue, emotional depth, and second chances to come.
