Reading with my grandchildren has far surpassed the joy I received from reading with my children. I did not expect this. Perhaps it’s because as grandparents we appreciate life so much more now or maybe it’s simply because we are not quite as rushed as we once were. Where before one part of the mind was always on household chores, meal planning, and schedules, now it’s possible to simply enjoy the pleasure of a child curled up on your lap while they disappear into the land of make-believe.
