My thoughts on The Problem With Poppy
I was excited to read The Problem With Poppy by Emma Sandford. It did not disappoint me.
Who better than a porcupine to portray a prickly character whose defense mechanisms drive people away before they can become friends. Poppy was mistreated when she was young and developed a “don’t let anyone close” mentality. I liked that she helped herself overcome the problem by deciding to reach out to Rory, the tiger cub.
There is also mention of trapping in the Sumatran Rainforest. Poppy uses quick thinking and problem-solving skills to save Rory.
The illustrations by Olena Osadcha are bright, colorful, and exceptionally well-done.
This delightful book is perfect to read over and over to little ones. It’s also perfect for gifting, libraries, daycares, and schools. Self-Esteem needs to be nurtured in young children.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
