My thoughts on The Reasons I Pray
The Reasons I Pray by Deberann Tinson is a beautiful, inspiring guide that refreshes the soul. Tinson doesnât just teach about prayerâshe invites you into it. Her words are genuine and approachable, making you feel like youâre sitting across from a wise friend who truly cares about your spiritual journey.
Deberann explains prayer as an ongoing, active relationship with God, not a task or ritual. Through personal experience and Biblical truth, she encourages readers to deepen their faith, listen for God's direction, and even build a prayer ministry that impacts others. I especially appreciated how practical the advice is without ever feeling preachy or overwhelming.
Tinsonâs passion for prayer shines through every page. Whether youâre just starting to explore prayer or have been walking with God for years, this book offers something powerful. It challenges, comforts, and stirs up a renewed hunger to connect with God on a daily basis.
If youâre looking for a heartfelt, scripture-rooted book to help you grow stronger in prayer and purpose, I canât recommend The Reasons I Pray enough.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Guest Post from Deberann Tinson, author of The Reasons I Pray
The Simplicity of Prayer
Start right where you are. You donât need the perfect setting, the right words, or a flawless track record to pray. God meets you in the middle of your mess, in your silence, in your tears, and even in your doubt. One wordâ âhelp,â âthank you,â âJesusââis enough to open the door to His presence. One moment, however small, is enough to begin again. Whether youâre in a quiet room or surrounded by chaos, prayer is your sacred space, and it begins with simply showing up.
One breath at a time, Heâs listening. God isnât distant or disinterestedâHeâs near, leaning in, ready to comfort, guide, and restore. Donât disqualify yourself because of inconsistency or shame. You are still His beloved, and Heâs not letting go. Your efforts, however small, are seen. Your heart, however heavy, is held. Keep coming. Keep breathing. Keep praying. Grace meets you every time.
When that guilty thought rushes in, you know that thought that you havenât spent enough hours in prayer, or that youâre not praying like sister so-and-so, or even if you forgot to pray two days in a row, reject that thought⌠immediately. God is not looking for your perfection. He just longs for your heart. Be kind to yourself. Just because you missed it doesnât mean you fail; it means you are human. The goal is to progress, not perfection. Make sure you surround yourself with encouragement, whether from a friend, a devotional, or a sticky note on the mirror that reminds you that God absolutely loves you and wants you, not your rituals.
