My thoughts on The Wedding
In the contemporary romance “The Wedding, Kelly Smith shares the story of four friends navigating the complexities of life, career, and romance. Grace, Piper, Sydney, and Rachel are newly single, and each is seeking a fresh start as their careers flourish in Boston, Massachusetts.
When they encounter new romantic interests, they question whether these relationships are merely fleeting encounters or destined for lasting love. Their friendship creates both a source of support and the occasional complication. Friendship and romance sometimes create complex situations.
It’s a well-kept secret which of these new couples will make it to the wedding stage. I enjoyed that the author satisfyingly closes each storyline. The story maintains a compelling pace along with the mystery to ensure that readers are captivated until the final pages.
Kelly Smith skillfully tells a story that celebrates the power of female friendship while exploring the universal search for love and fulfillment. The dynamics between the characters are engaging and very relatable.
“The Wedding” is a tale about the enduring strength of friendship and the pursuit of happiness. Its uplifting tone and emotional depth make it enjoyable for diverse audiences. The story is well-written, and the characters should be relatable to a wide variety of readers.
The Wedding is an uplifting, emotional, entertaining story.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Guest Post by Kelly Smith, author of The Wedding
What was the highlight of writing The Wedding?
The Wedding is my first fiction book, but it’s also the third book I have written. The first two books, Signs in the Rearview Mirror Leaving a Toxic Relationship Behind and Out of the Darkness, are both based on my life and lived experience being in a toxic, abusive relationship. I go on to write about my healing journey and how I eventually dated again and found, for the first time in my life, healthy love.
Writing The Wedding was vastly different from writing my first two books. I loved tapping into my creative side with character-building and development. I would say that character development was the highlight of writing this book. When I first started to write, I had an idea of which direction I was taking this book in, but as I wrote, I discovered that my characters had different plans for themselves. At times, even I had no idea what was going to happen next and that was so thrilling for me.
I set the book in Boston because I know the city. Since I was born and lived there, I could record The Wedding for audio and not have to worry about my accent coming through while I read. Currently, I live in Austin, so it was so fun to put myself back home and indulge in the city I miss a lot.
As the characters make their way through their lives, they live, love, lose and depend and on one another to lift them up and celebrate from one life moment to another. I enjoyed writing about sisterhood and friendship and how no matter what life throws at us, if we have good friends, we will be ok!
