L’ Amour Fou
Taking another gulp of ale, Tristan turned to Lancelot and searched his knowing eyes. “I don’t know if she even exists, Lancelot, but I want a woman who makes me feel alive! I want her kisses to arouse my passion, her heart to sing to mine. I want a muse to inspire my song, a lady to whom I would pledge my sword—and my life.” Tristan shook his head and sighed. “Is such a love even possible?”
The First Knight of Camelot responded with a sad smile. “It is indeed possible, Tristan.” Lancelot turned his pensive gaze to the vast expanse of sea. “In French, we call such a love l’amour fou—a passion so intense… it can drive you mad.”
Lancelot glanced back at Tristan, a forlorn smile reaching his intense blue eyes. “When you find such a woman, Tristan, the love she gives you fills every empty hollow in your soul. She completes you; she invigorates you; she thrills you. And, when you consummate such a love, the exquisite blend of the spiritual and physical realms will satisfy you more than the finest wine or the greatest victory in battle. The love she gives you with her body will transport you to the stars, and you will never experience a greater joy.”
And, though he smiled, Tristan saw that the First Knight emanated loneliness, suffering, and sorrow. As Lancelot returned his gaze across the faraway sea, Tristan knew that the White Knight of Avalon longed for the beautiful blond queen of Camelot.

My thoughts on The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven
“The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven” is a captivating retelling of the medieval Celtic legend of Tristan and Issylte, set in a world of magic and fantasy creatures. The story follows the journey of Issylte, who is forced to flee her kingdom and seek refuge with a fairy witch in the forest. She learns the secrets of verdant magic and sets out to save her kingdom from ruin.
On the other hand, Tristan, a Knight of the Round Table, must confront his dark past and defend his king. He becomes a warrior of the Tribe of Dana and seeks the key to his quest in Druidic magic. The two characters are entwined by fate and haunted by their pasts, but their passion and power might be the key to their survival.
The book is fast-paced and told from the dual perspectives of Issylte and Tristan, which adds depth and complexity to the storyline. The plot seamlessly blends in Arthurian myth and incorporates a variety of fantasy elements, including an evil stepmother, a princess in disguise, and other mythical creatures.
The story is set in a time of political and theological upheaval, adding a layer of historical significance to the book. The ancient Druidic religion is also a significant influence, and the author skillfully weaves it into the narrative.
“The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven” is the first book in a trilogy, and it sets the stage for an epic tale of love, magic, and adventure. The book is a gripping read that will appeal to fantasy and fairy tale retelling fans. Overall, the book is a well-crafted adaptation of the Tristan and Issylte tale, and it promises an exciting continuation of the story in the subsequent books.
