Weekly Friday Finds | 05-24-2024 | Books ~Author News ~ Recipes ~ Crafts ~ New Trivia Question
Hello and welcome to the 05-24-2024 edition of the weekly Friday Finds. I hope you have had a wonderful week and are ready for a relaxing weekend.
It’s a holiday weekend here in the US. We usually have family in for swimming and cookouts, but the kids had other family commitments, so it’s just us hanging out for now. We may invite some friends to visit. We used to host an Indy 500 party, but it’s supposed to rain and storm on Sunday, so that thought is on hold until we get a firmer forecast. Do you have any special plans for the weekend?
Until next week,
Peace & love to you!
Gina

This week, The Pioneer Woman had all the delicious yet simple recipes I need for a Memorial Day celebration. Here are a couple to get you started.
Hawaiian Macaroni Salad
This classic pasta salad is creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet. Its bits of chopped celery, shredded carrots, and green onion add a welcome crunch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grill-Fried Chicken
Fried chicken is delicious, but the thought of standing over a pot of hot oil during Memorial Day weekend just isn’t that fun. That’s why making this crispy chicken on the grill will blow your mind! It’s less mess but the same great reward.
Do you want to know what dessert I chose to go along with the above recipes?
It’s in the Friday Finds email newsletter!
Don’t get the Friday Finds email? Sign up on the sidebar! —> This week’s exclusive recipe is for … a gooey treat that tastes like it just came off the campfire.
(or you could ask me in the comments, and I’ll share it with you.)
Tune in next week for more delicious recipes.
I chose this for my May First Reads free book. (click the link to learn how to get your free monthly book!)
From the author of The Brighter the Light comes the moving story about one woman’s reason for leaving home and the love that brings her back.
- Amazon Kindle Edition
- Taylor, Mary Ellen (Author)
- English (Publication Language)
- 339 Pages - 06/01/2024 (Publication Date) - Montlake (Publisher)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amazon also gave me $2 off another book for choosing my May freebie. Win, Win? Not Exactly. They give you a choice between about a dozen books from varied genres. It looked as if each book sold for $3.99 and up. However, they are all on Kindle Unlimited, and many have audiobooks included.
If you don’t use Kindle Unlimited (and why ever not?), this $2.00 credit is a good deal. But for KU members, it will actually cost you more. If you buy the $3.99 book and apply the $2.00 credit, you will pay $1.99 for a book you could read through KU. Granted, a book can disappear from the KU library without notice, but using the credit to purchase it does allow you to keep it in your library forever.
Wow! That was a long-winded way to say I won’t be redeeming the credit.

Hazel Hunter’s third book in the Clan MacMar series will be released on June 4th. Which means I am now 2 books behind on this series. I might even be considered a Hazel Hunter and her world of Immortal Highlanders world addict, or maybe I should call it my guilty pleasure.
- Amazon Kindle Edition
- Hunter, Hazel (Author)
- English (Publication Language)
- 284 Pages - 06/04/2024 (Publication Date)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rochelle Bradley also has a new book available on June 4th. If you’ve not read about the Fortuna Men’s Book Club, you do NOT know what you are missing.
- Amazon Kindle Edition
- Bradley, Rochelle (Author)
- English (Publication Language)
- 116 Pages - 06/04/2024 (Publication Date) - Epic Dreams Publishing (Publisher)
Last week’s Friday Finds featured rag wreaths. I was a little stumped about what craft to choose this week. I’ve not been getting much feedback from you on the crafts lately, so give me a shout in the comments about your favorite crafting addiction hobby; it’s just a hobby!
In the meantime, here’s a little something that intrigued me this week. Wouldn’t this make a fun gift for a graduate, friend, or even to make with children?
The winner of the “sort of” monthly Trivia Contest is TerriG. I’ve emailed her about her prize. So, if you are reading this, TerriG, check your emails!
This week’s trivia question is:
What is the name of the craft that involves folding paper strips into decorative designs?
Please leave your answer in the comments. If you are also a newsletter subscriber, you’ll receive double entries.
The answer to last week’s question:
I’m evidently pretty good at picking trivia questions with multiple answers—or maybe I need to be a better researcher. You were entered into the drawing if you left a guess last week. I was going for tomatoes because that’s the answer Co-Pilot gave me. lol
I have a post on AI scheduled soon. Maybe I should add “research several AI sources.”
The Trivia Jar is empty again. Let’s fill it up with all your guesses and comments!
[…] Last week’s Friday Finds featured paper crafts. Today, I’m bringing you a bit of my own creative news. I am seriously considering adding the handmade items I sell on Etsy to my website. Etsy has increased fees, and honestly, I feel as if I am promoting Etsy more than building my brand. […]
I usually share onto Twitter, but don’t see that option. Did you stop using them?
I didn’t. It should be there? I’ll do some checking & get back with you.
The books you mentioned sound so good especially Jack And I. Have a lovely weekend!
Thanks Pooja. Enjoy your weekend too!
