Welcome to the 06-14-2024 edition of the weekly Friday Finds.
I have an important announcement to make today. I am going to be taking a “sort-of” hiatus from the blog in the near future.
Basically, I have spread myself too thin with the commitments I’ve taken on recently. So, to prevent burnout and maintain putting forth my best effort on the blog, Friday Finds, and life, I need to step back and take care of issues, reviews, and work I’ve fallen behind on.
First I’m going to try a “light” version of the Friday Finds. If that doesn’t help, I’m contemplating going to a semi-monthly or monthly schedule until I get caught up.
I don’t want to ghost you, so I’m trying to be transparent and upfront about my plans.
Please leave me a comment on which solution would work best for you.
Gina

This is my latest scoop from Indie Authors.
Katherine’s Remarkable Road Trip by Gail Ward Olmsted is now available for purchase. This is one of my favorite reads of 2024. I’m re-sharing my review in case you need a refresher or missed it the first time around.
Katherine’s Remarkable Road Trip by Gail Ward Olmstead
In the fall of 1907, Katharine decides to drive from Newport, Rhode Island to her new home in Jackson, New Hampshire. Despite the concerns of her family and friends that at the age of 77 she lacks the stamina for the nearly 300-mile journey, Katharine sets out alone. Over the next six days, she receives a marriage proposal, pulls an all-nighter, saves a life or two, crashes a high-society event, meets a kindred spirit, faces a former rival, makes a new friend, takes a stroll with a future movie mogul, advises a troubled newlywed, and reflects upon a life well lived: her own!

Weekly Friday Finds | 06-14-2024 | Trivia Time
This week’s trivia question is:
Which classic novel, written by Miguel de Cervantes and published in two parts in 1605 and 1615, follows the adventures of a nobleman who becomes a knight-errant?
The answer to last week’s question:
What is the main ingredient in traditional Japanese miso soup?
The main ingredient in miso soup is miso paste, a traditional Japanese seasoning produced by fermenting soybeans with salt and kōji (a type of fungus). Miso soup typically includes other ingredients as well, such as dashi (a Japanese soup stock), tofu, seaweed (like wakame), and green onions. The miso paste provides the characteristic umami flavor and forms the soup base.

[…] Last week’s Friday Finds featured Father’s Day gifts. Today, I found a cute, quick, and easy little weaving kit for those curious about weaving. It’s super fun for more experienced weavers to sample and get instant gratification. […]
Definitely: Whichever suits you best. You are certainly deserving of a good break! If everything is the same from your perspective, then my vote is for #1 (weekly light content). But I would be fine with monthly as well. Take whatever time you need. I think we all want you refreshed and energized when fall rolls around! Trivia answer: Don Quixote (although, to be honest, I saw Eve’s and Jessica’s responses before I started writing this comment!).
The summer months can get pretty busy so I’m sure readers won’t mind if you take a break or reduce your frequency of your posts. I’d say once a month would be good for me. The answer to the trivia question is Don Quixote.
I hope things settle down for you so you can catch up on stuff you need to get done. I know things got hectic for me for the past couple of weeks so I know how you feel!
Daily, monthly, weekly, it’s all good if it’s from you! Oh, and Don Quixote, of course.
Thanks Eve!
Hi Gina. I’m sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed. That being the case, you are right to take a break. Give yourself a chance to relax and take care of yourself. You are very generous with your blog and its variety. I have enjoyed it very much over the past few years. May God bless you!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words.
